I’m not sure if it’s the one you’re talking about, but I love the one where Shatner takes questions from all the geeky Trekkies at the mock-Star Trek convention.

Yeah... Did you ever notice the way he was always glancing over at Chekov instead of paying attention to the helm?

I don't have that but is it the one where I think Belushi played Kirk and Chevy Chase played Spock? They were being chased by a station wagon of NBC executives there to cancel the show.

Whichever role he plays, he'll be exploring Uranus to seek out Klingons.

Was that the one with John Lovitts in spock ears, while Kirk asks him, “...you, you look like you’re about thirty years old. Have you ever even kissed a girl?” (Lovitts, destroyed, just looks down at his shoes.)

I remember when the Friars Club roasted Shatner (on Comedy Central). Several of the comedians were merciless with Takei. When it came time for Shatner’s spot he said to him something like, “Wow, George! They really tore you a new one tonight! But I'm sure you'll find something to do with it.”

CAPT KIRK OUT Ok, now I'm really confused. I thought that it was Sulu who was 'out'. I had no idea about Shatner. :=)

You’d be surprised.
Sci-fi fans are some of the most accepting and stereotype-free people out there. They’re that way because many of them were teased while growing up because their love for sci-fi was considered abnormal. People thought anyone who liked sci-fi was ‘weird’ and ‘had something wrong with them’.
That...unfortunately in some cases...is true.
My sister used to be the “captain” of the local Star Trek fan club in Spokane (which has since split off into several). One of the things available to officers in Star Trek Fan Clubs is a semi-official organization known as “Starfleet Academy”. They provide educational materials and helps on running a fan club, what they do, and how the club can help the community through community service or charities.
One of the lesser-known ‘courses’ that Starfleet Academy has is a course on how to tell when someone is getting a little too happy for the Star Trek Universe. The unfortunate truth is there are some...SOME...people who join who are a few fries short of a Happy Meal. Either because of a bad home life, constant teasing, or any of a number of reasons (yes, including mental illness), these individuals get so ‘into’ the Star Trek world that it begins to supplant reality.
People who have taken the Academy training in this subject are told how to spot the signs, and what can be done to get the person some help.
Star Trek fans are not all nutso. But a very small number...are.

Gay marriage not only disgusts me, it confuses me as well, will Sulu play the role of bride or groom? |

It confuses the participants as well; Ellen's fiancee calls off gay wedding The Daily Redundancy ^ Posted on May 21, 2008 2:28:15 PM EDT by chordmaster INSIDE HOLLYWOOD, CA - A spokesperson for Portia de Rossi, longtime partner and newly named fianc'e of television personality Ellen DeGeneres, has said plans for the upcoming wedding have been postponed indefinitely. The wedding, announced shortly after the California Supreme Court lifted the state's ban on gay marriage, was to take place next month. Sources say, among other things, there were heated arguments between the couple over who would wear the white dress... |
