"San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, right, marries Phyllis Lyon, 84, second from left, and Del Martin, 87, third from left, in a special ceremony at City Hall in San Francisco."

"Octogenarians Del Martin (L, bottom) and Phyllis Lyon (standing, 2nd L) take their vows with San Francisco county clerk Edwin Lee (R) in the first legal same-sex marriage ceremony, at San Francisco City Hall in San Francisco."

"Octogenarians Del Martin (2nd L) and Phyllis Lyon (R) smile as Mayor Gavin Newsom (2nd R) preside (sic) over the first legal same-sex marriage ceremony at San Francisco City Hall in San Francisco, California June 16, 2008. California performed its first legally recognized same-sex weddings on Monday and opened its doors to gay and lesbian couples from around the country, a move likely to challenge other states that define marriage as between a man and a woman.."

Glad to see Newsome took some time off from adultery to let two women “marry” themselves- disregarding of the voters of California.

I have two rhetorical questions here; 1) how does this change things for these ladys who have been 'successfully' cohabitating for all those years? and 2) will there be the same amount of coverage for the inevitable divorces to follow? I don't have the stats at hand, but I think that Massachusetts' gay divorce rate has exceeded that of non-gays since gay weddings have been permitted.

(Yes, I too hate the preemption of 'gay' by the homosexuals! I wonder where the book, "Our Hearts Were Young and Gay", can be found now days?)

agreed

for some to say they wish them well or how nice , what ever just shows what a moral decline this country has gone

I even read on here a libertarian saying that govt should not enforce any kind of marriage nor ban it

when he was asked about a goat and a man or a sister and brother, he still said that they should get married

Unbelievable

well some have been brainwashed , , some just don’t care but I do and I will not give up and I will let people know every day , strangers , co workers, teachers at my children’s school etc that it is disgusting and these people need mental help.

Instead of being quiet we need to speak out and let them know that their perverted sick sexual ways have been accepted into the mainstream no matter how many times the TV channels, the magazines and the likes of Ellen degeneres harp on about it

"It's all about more $$$ for the lawyers."

You nailed it, gator.

EVERYTHING legally or legislatively bad or evil in this country benefits the lawyers one way or the other in the long run.

Just about everyone ruling the roost in DC including the legislators are lawyers....and don't forget to include the statehouses across the country.

In "Oliver Twist" Charles Dickens had a character, Mr. Bumble, state "The law is an ass, an idiot."

Wrong, Charlie.....the lawyers are the SMARTEST people in the country.....WE are the bumbling idiots for allowing an aggressive, amoral portion of their ranks to rule this nation for their own benefit and pocketbooks.

What’s going to change in their life? Do you think that God is now going to bless them some special way after he is being mocked? Has his word changed since the beginning? These bastards that are cursing this country won’t be around to reap it. Our children and grandchildren will. Thanks you liberal MFers.

Yes I did, and do. Perhaps a strange concept. Do you wish them sorrow?

I don’t wish them sorrow. There is no argument that, according to the Bible, this is a major sin. To leave this life unrepentant of that leads to an eternity of sorrow. The fact that this is sanctioned, promoted, and encouraged, especially to our children reaps huge consequences.

Next: They fight for the right of a bisexual to marry both a man AND a woman. Who are we to say they’re not in love?

Then the “right” to have a religious wedding, forcing churches to perform them.

Well, at least we live in interesting times...

A great deal of praise, I'm sure; knowing the MSM. However; they are not being praised by us, or the angels in Heaven.

We will have no more luck demanding they stop praising, than they will demanding we start.

I like that line of thinking. As someone else said, they have opted out of the gene pool. Only thing disturbing is the brainwashing of the last couple of generations in public schools, conditioned to think this is somehow a good thing for our nation.

"He castrated the boy Sporus and actually tried to make a woman of him; and he married him with all the usual ceremonies, including a dowry and a bridal veil, took him to his house attended by a great throng, and treated him as his wife. And the witty jest that someone made is still current, that it would have been well for the world if Nero's father Domitius had had that kind of wife. This Sporus, decked out with the finery of the empresses and riding in a litter, he took with him to the assizes and marts of Greece, and later at Rome through the Street of the Images, fondly kissing him from time to time."
