Cocaine 'damaged Winehouse's lungs'
The Press Association ^ | 06.23.08

Amy Winehouse could struggle to catch her breath and hit high notes as a result of suffering emphysema, a lung expert has said.

The singer's father spoke out at the weekend about his worries that Winehouse could lose her life unless she kicks her drug habit.

In an interview with the Sunday Mirror, Mitch Winehouse said his daughter - who was rushed to hospital recently after collapsing - had developed the chronic lung disease emphysema, possibly brought on by smoking crack cocaine.

It is unfortunate, but some people serve as an example of how not to live your life.

What a dolt. And like her 85 pound body can handle what she’s been doing to it the past decade. Duh.

As long as my tax dollars don’t have to pay for her medical care, she can smoke anything she can find for all I care.

What are the other variables... cause this couldn't "possibly" do this.

She must have been caning herself really, really hard to do the kind of damage she’s done at her young age. We’re (most of us anyway) made of some fairly stern stuff until we hit our 30’s.

I’m not fond of her music, and her antics leave me cold. But I am sorry that she’s apparently hell-bent on self-destruction. Even a lifetime of flipping burgers at McDonalds is a life better spent than what she’s doing.

Poor kid.

if she got her head straight, and dropped out of sight for a while, at her age, her lungs would probably adapt.

She will beat Joplin and Hendrix to the grave.

When I was a teenager I thought Hendrix was supreme, but seeing those performances later, (on you tube now) he was way over rated. His ‘improvisations’ were because he was so stoned he forgot where he was and what song he was playing.

Yeah, isn’t that the magic age of death for performers that like to destroy themselves?

Let’s see, Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison, who else?

Being high always makes guitar solos AWESOME.

I personally like Brian May and Neal Schon and think they put Hendrix to shame as far as talent goes on a guitar.

I don’t know about that, it’s a pretty sad situation the drug problems. The world is getting worse by the day. Values and morals are going completely out the window.

They will never recover though, it's non reversible, isn't it? Oh well, she can always hide her oxygen tank in her beehive.

You're supposed to be stoned when you listen to them, then they'll be awesome.

What is the significance of this person?

I’ve heard of U2, Coldplay, Brittany Spears, etc.

I can sympathize her medical plight, but is this not an oft-repeated story?

Perhaps Congress can mandate that the music and entertainment industry perform drug testing all it's artists and suspend those found with illegal substances in their bodies, mandate care and rehabilitation to those in violation of these drug tests and fine those corporate heads that allow this rampant drug use to continue...

ahahahahahahahahahaahah....sorry..../sarcasm
