I wonder when “suspended” came into play? I think it used to be that you simply got banned, and then the ban might or might not be lifted some indefinite/arbitrary period of time later.
Mods are the best.

I was always notified that I was suspended for two days.
The 2nd time the suspension was lifted the next day - that was for not being nice to Teddy in a discussion about the scene in Heaven were he to meet his maker as a result of his surgery
The mods have a tough job.
Never suspended, nor banned, but that flimsy keyboard on my Timex-Sinclair was hell!
A co-worker has gone to Florida with his family for their summer vacation, this week.
