My spam filter grabs a non-spam email now and then and I've been monitoring what it does so I can adjust the settings and make sure it stops doing that. One of the spam I got last night had the title 'Obama found dead in shock accident'.
I'm sure if it said 'Bush' or "McCain' instead of Obama conservatives would be up in arms about it, and so I hope also see this in the same light.
I'm in Canada so I'm sure if this breaks a law or not up here. Have any of you in the USA received this and reported it?

I can’t speak for this particular e-mail, but I do know that it’s a common tactic to put a shocking header on an e-mail to get people to open it. Then there’s a video or photo attached which contains malware.
There was one going around that said “Angelina Jolie dies in bizarre accident” and it was an attempt to get people to open a malware file. I’m guessing this is along those lines. If so, it’s not an attempt to get sympathy for Obama, instead an attempt to play off his fame to get people to open a malicious file.

“News” spams like this often contain a virus or worm as a payload. Always delete (and I mean by pressing shift-delete!) stuff like this without opening it.

Since you opened the spam, I would get your virtual self over to Trend Housecall and do an online scan. Those mails have shocking subjects so you open them and then malicious scripting is downloaded to your system.
In the future, just say no to spam.

That’s my assesment too, but since Obama is a presidential candidate, does this constitute a crime? If it was only sent to people outside, or only sent from outside the USA, is it a crime?

Actually, I saved it to a text file without opening it and only looked at the text file. I know about what kind of crap can be in spam. Just as bad as the viruses are html spam messages that have a 1 pixel image just so opening it calls back to their server and lets them confirm your email address is valid so they can sell it to other spamers.
Try checking the my posts while you are at it. Since when is NOT having a double standard the sign of being a liberal?

Quit schilling for Obama. What you do not realize is 99.99% of the posters on FR could care leass about emails like this because we have disdain for Obama and realize how dangerous he is, and we also realize how childish and unimportant a spam email like that is. I did read between the lines. It was easy to do, the lines were a mile wide.

A) saying I’m ‘schilling for Obama’ makes you look like an ignorant fool. My support has always gone to the right, both in time and money and in my postings. I really wanted Mitt to win the nomination. Whether Obama is better or worse than Hilary is debatable, but both of them are crap, and I’m not keen on McCain either. Just because I don’t support Obama doesn’t mean I’m going to applaud when someone does something like this. It’s wrong no matter what politician is in the subject line.
B) By embracing a double standard so enthusiastically you lose the moral right to object to Democrats incorporating veiled death threats to Bush and other Republicans in cartoons, novel, movies etc. Having politics devolve even further into the gutter isn’t good for anyone.
You think it is a matter not worth bothering with, fine, you’ve said so and can now go post on some other thread. Don’t be so eager for a fight that you start creating friendly fire.
