Cleaner skies explain surprise rate of warming [clean air will kill us!]

GOODBYE air pollution and smoky chimneys, hello brighter days. That's been the trend in Europe for the past three decades - but unfortunately cleaning up the skies has allowed more of the sun's rays to pierce the atmosphere, contributing to at least half the warming that has occurred.

Since 1980, average air temperatures in Europe have risen 1 °C: much more than expected from greenhouse-gas warming alone.

You can't make this stuff up.

Unless you're a warmist (a la Algore & Co.). Then you can make it up 24 hours a day.

Higher emissions == Global Warming
Lower emissions == Global Warming

There was an article posted the other day which stated:

Shrinking glaciers around the world == Global Warming
Growing glacier in California (?) == Global Warming (evaporation from warmer ocean meant more snow fall)

Everything means Global Warming, although we're supposed to call it Climate Change since sometimes the Warming manifests itself as lower temperatures.

I don't think the word "pierce" is perjorative enough for the author's purpose.

I would have used the word "rape."

... allowed more of the sun's rays to rape the atmosphere...

And if you accept the "Mother Earth" environmentalist whacko creed with all humans as Gaia's children, you naturally get to the old standby:
