A 22 year yr old's RANT

Posted on 07/11/2008 12:51:24 PM PDT by Feline_AIDS

I'm a twenty-two Virginian girl, and this is my rant at my peers.

Every day I peruse the forums of FreeRepublic, scouring the pages and reading of the troubles that face the United States. And to be entirely honest, it breaks my heart. Every time see another article about the efforts of so many to bring radical and harmful changes to America, I can think of nothing except the English landing at Jamestown and one man saying that if paradise existed on Earth, it was Virginia.

And now many people are trying to pull the United States down to the standards of the world.

When I was growing up, there were only two things that I knew would always be and always be good. God and the United States. I was raised to love Virginia and the South, because they were noble and an inseperable part of me, but I was also taught that the United States had given me more than I could ever give back-- that countless men had died violent deaths so that I wouldn't have to suffer the same fate. They had thrown off the yoke of tyrrany on our soil, and had been taking the fight for our own freedom and the freedom of people they didn't even know to the doorstep of evil ever since.

Every time I hear the national anthem my eyes tear up and my heart pounds because I think of how many times the sight of our flag has meant freedom, resuce, and safety. And yet all around me, people talk through it, and only a few put their hands over their hearts.

I truly believe that the God of the universe is good and that we were made in His image. And those lase vestiges of Godliness in us were poured out into the formation of our nation and in selfless service to it.

I would like to say that if we keep electing radical liberals who would like this country hurt and on its knees, I'll leave. But I won't. This place means too much to me, and I won't leave until I'm dead.

As Americans we face a new form of tyrrany today. We see it from the people who would like to have their America custom fitted to them. They would like to give evil men the rights of our citizens. They want to split wide our borders and indoctrinate our children. They take and take and take, but have never given.

My generation is much like that of my parents, who were born into a time of prosperity to parents who never wanted their children to see the unhappiness they did. Because their parents were bravely building a proud and strong nation, they did not have to worry about doing it themselves. Character building childhood experiences died with my grandparents' (the depression and WWII) generation.

Luckily my parents and their parents knew the value of sacrifice, probably largely instilled by their faith. And so it was passed on to me.

I'll never forget being at a party early this spring at college. I was standing outside with the smokers, and someone commented on America. I remarked, "America is the best country on Earth," expecting to hear agreements. Instead, a vicious girl from Holland attacked me with her beliefs about our great nation. All I could say to her was that if she didn't like it, she was more than welcome to go home. But that isn't was really suprised me. Europeans my age are lucky if they can even begin to think for themselves, so once I learned she was from Holland, I wasn't surprised. What surprised me was how the Americans who stood around me said nothing. They watched and listened and looked at me, resigning themselves to passive weakness. I will never forget the faces of the young men as they stood there, weakness and fear in their eyes. They cannot be called men. America's men are dwindling and being replaced by a new class of male people who are too afraid to fight for anything.

And the situation is growing dire.

While we are desperately trying to revive her, the radicals are cupping their hands together and holding them under the wounds of America, rejoicing that they've gotten what they want. And so my generation will let the lifeblood of America, this beautiful and righteous nation, slip through the cracks in their fingers as they each look at the blood on their hands and point to the rest of us, blaming us for trying to save her while we still could.

If I lost 20 lbs I’d look like a male Ann Coulter. I already explained my health in another post but I will still look into it.

You are an EXCEPTIONAL young lady. Thanks so much for posting this.

I too worry about this country, then I remember there are several hundred thousand young men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan like you. It gives me a lot of hope for this country.

Every generation has had givers and takers (losers and winners). And there will always be those who will lead, sacrifice, and define greatness. You are apparently one of those, and I am very proud of you.

When I was growing up, there were only two things that I knew would always be and always be good. God and the United States.

Now that you're 22, you need to realize that this statement is a falsehood.

God WILL ALWAYS be good; however, the United States will "always be and always be good" ONLY with the blessings and the hand of provision from our heavenly Father.

This nation has decided to turn away from God and his Word, therefore it has opened itself up to God's righteous judgment. This can be seen in many ways - not least the destestable candidates that we have running for the highest political office of our land.

Stay true to God - honor Him (and your mother and father) - and work hard to turn this country back to God. But don't make the mistake of equating the United States with God. We have been blessed with this country, but God is sovereign and the absolute ruler above all.

It's not intended as a slam -- it's just a fact. "Girls" are their parents' responsibility. "Women" are responsible for themselves.

This is incorrect. If this young lady is still single, then she is under the covenant protection of her mother and father until such time as she is married. Throwing her out to the world to be "responsible for herself" is improper and extremely unbiblical.

My advice to this young lady - honor God, obey your mother and father, and pray for your future husband.

I’m not trying to push you to do anything!
I got a medical discharge, and I understand that there are some things you can’t control. I just wanted to encourage you if you needed it.

Uh, Jamestown was very much a business proposition funded by the Virginia Company in London.

This essay is a tribute to poor educational standards.

Don't get hung up over terms. This is both generational and regional. I know many 30/40+ women who want to be referred to as 'girls' both for fun and because it is a recapture of youth. Most of that little click of 'girls' are executives of some sort in their respective companies. If she is responsible enough has nothing to do to if she chooses to refer to herself as a 'girl' or 'woman'. It is obvious that she has her head on right, and frankly, seems better equipped for the world than most who refer to themselves as 'women'.

I also saw that in a lot of kids eyes when I was in college in the late 60s-early 70s so it is not an unique thing...a lot of it now, though, has to be the pollution of the gene pool with the coward gene, not to mention the added burdens of becoming a PC wuss.

Both 22... You’ve made this semi-fogey smile. Always like to hear from intelligent young folk.
