OMG... I’m old enough to remember Johnny Cash doing the original, and this kid is absolutely uncanny. I’ll have to do some looking for his CD...

Wonderful voice. Thanks for the tip.

Not bad. He lets some Pat Boone slip in now and then.

No he doesn’t, the kid sounds good, he’s got a deep voice that he can make go lower, but he’s no Johnny Cash. Not yet.

But I wish him every success, he could go far.

I saw that kid on some morning show and it amazed me!

I was watching the interview portion and was thinking “these guys don’t remember what Johnny Cash sounded like”, then the kid sang the first words and I thought “whoa, that’s spooky”

Good voice, but, Johnny always had a little “gruff” in his voice, even in the 50’s and 60’s, I missed hearing that.

LOL! Yea, that “gruff” part came from the drinking and the smoking! It would be hard for the 15 year old to do that!

I thought this was amazing too ... until I discovered video of a 2-year old Korean boy who could just nail Hey Jude.

Eerie I tell you.

That was very impressive. I think he could fool 99% of people who couldn’t see the face of the singer.

I agree. I think he sounds good, but not quite like Johnny Cash.

Here’s the real deal:

He doesn’t have the fullness of Johnny Cash but at 15, he has time to develop it.

I agree. The kid sounds great, and his effortlessness is remarkable.

BUT......one thing that is missing (very understandabe due to the kid’s age) is the strain and “effort” in Cash’s voice.

However, I do believe that this young man will eventually develop that. It’s an age thing.

Good voice and if he can 'age' it a bit I think he'll do well. Right now, and maybe its just being on a TV show nervousness, he's pushing it too much. Tempo a little to fast, timing is just slightly strained.
In a studio with some good coaching I think he could slow things down some and really pull out the Cash sound.

I wish him well...he's got it!

He’s a good singer, but I don’t think he sounds like Johnny Cash particularly. He’s just singing a Johnny Cash song and hitting the notes. We have a teenage girl in our church who plays the autoharp and does a June Carter show for the talent show and church festival. Same thing - sounds good, hits the notes, but she doesn’t sound like June.

Excellent! Too bad he doesn’t sing like Elvis, he’d have a career..........

Those are the words that describe the differences I was trying pinpoint listening to the two. He will get that if he keeps at it. If he turns out to be a writer, too, all the better.

He’s not bad. But what I found more interesting was the transformation. He came across as a very shy kid but when he stepped up to sing it was all confidence.
