Take a minute or two and enjoy watching a hippie's VW be eaten in an industrial shredder.
Watch It Shred: A "Hippie" Bug (1974 VW)
That was uncalled for... ;-)
What a waste. A Super Beetle is the one to own since your nose isn’t two inches from the windshield. I would have preferred to see the hippy get it, now that would be cool!
this reminded me, yesterday this elderly man came into a restaurant I was in and had a on T shirt that said ‘yesterday’s flower children are today’s blooming idiots’!
LOL
That’s not a Hippie Bug, that’s Herbie, the Love Bug!!
Now that’s some maching, ate the engine, frame and all.
Reminds me of the day we lifted another guy's Honda CRX onto the racks (two stories up). Ah, memories.
Actually, my Mom had one of those, and she was by no means a hippie.
Saddam used those things for entertainment (of a different kind) as well.
I'm with you...I loved my bug. You are not a real driver unless you have ever had to pull your car over on the side of the freeway, put the fire out, and then start it back up and then merge back into traffic.
What a waste of a salvageable VW Beetle
The hippie should be walking anyway, it is better for the environment.
Is it my imagination or did Screech from “Saved by the Bell” play the hippie?
You would think with the vaunted German engineering, they would use hose clamps on the fuel lines. They did the same thing on Porsches.
I especially love it when the throttle cable breaks in the middle of the night. As long as you have enough length, you should be able to get it going as I’ve had to do it twice!
Arrgghh! The agony, the unhumanity, the beetle! Save the VW Beetle! Great vehicle. Some folks from my church drove them and they were never hippies.
ping
bumlp
No, that’s not Herbie. Herbie was a 63 beetle with a soft top sunroof.
As the proud and loving owner of a 69 beetle convertible it causes me pain to see a road-worthy classic beetle be shredded like this. These cars aren’t made anymore, and the numbers of them decrease every year. I remember the time when they were everywhere! I can count on my two hands the number of classic beetles I’ve seen around my area in the last year.
And they get good gas mileage, too.
They were great cars.Bought a `71 yellow bug when
I got out the Army in `71,paid $1995 with my Army
checks that had been kept by mom.
We drove to California breaking it in.
Remember loaning it to my brother one time,he went
out on a date and parked it down a dead end road, well
after getting done he went to back up.He didn`t know
that trick of pushing the gear shift down. They had to
push it about a 1/4 mile to where they could get outta
there. He came in later that nite looking like death and
mad at me
We laughed for years about that
Never had any trouble with that car, wish I had it back
