During and after the famous Klamath insurrection by FR, I caught hell from some senior freepers for daring to call the eco freaks, terrorist when they did acts of eco terrorism.
Violent and potentially dangerous acts are acts of terrorism when they are done by any group of whackos to gain a political or economic advantage over whom the acts are commited against.

My guess is that we are getting to used to it.
They are acts of domestic terrorism, and have been deemed so by our government.
