A plane full of British tourists including children had to make an unscheduled stop in Bermuda last night after a drunken passenger tried to open the door when the aircraft was 50,000ft over the Atlantic.Police boarded the First Choice Boeing 767-300 at Bermuda airport and led the man away after he had been abusive to other passengers and cabin crew.
Passenger Dominic Carman, who was taking his wife and three children on holiday to Cuba, said: 'He was clearly very drunk.

Bermuda International Airport: Passengers
were delayed for 14 hours
Too bad he didn't get to spend some time in one of Castro's prisons.
Mid-air scare: A First Choice jet like this one was
forced to land in BermudaActually the Mail got this fact wrong too. The plane that was diverted was a 767-300ER. The plane in in the picture is a 757-200.

This is why when I fly I always keep a roll of duct tape in my carry on. Not for the door, to wrap jerks like this into their seats....
One in the US yesterday, one over the Atlantic today. One more and we’ll have a pattern.
Why do they always have to add "including children?" Yes, the death of a child is tragic. However, had a plane gone down killing only 200 adults, would they report, "While 200 passengers lost their lives, fortunately there were no children on board?"

Is this formerly unknown problem due to:
1) Binge drinking has become accepted as normal.
2) Prozac, etc. mixed with booze.
3) General lack of Judeo/Christian standards or behavior.
Yes, most people think children are special.
Is it me or is there a rash of similar incidents of late,, ie; folks trying to jump out of airliners. They’ll probably have to curb alcoholic beverage service at some point..
Children are precious. I just don't like it when the media (most of whom are pro-abortion liberals) tries to use children to trigger an emotional response.
The millionth use for duct tape. What will people think of next.

50,000ft seems a bit high for a 767.
You’ve got the cart before the horse. Until the Supreme Court legalized abortion, “women and children first” was just a fact.
Yes, what a crime your holiday to Cuba was impacted; your opportunity to show your children what you probably hope the future of UK life will be like was cut short.
I'm fully aware of that; read the first comment. They also published a picture of a 757-200 with this story instead of a 767-300ER. The only passenger airliners I know of that can reach 50,000 feet are the Concorde and 747SP.

They should have done it many, many years ago. The only reason they didn’t is because it’s a money maker. In fact, they took life boats off of flights to Nassau from Florida to lighten the gas consumption due to the weight, but left the booze carts on board.
In all likelihood, he was taking his family to one of the Jamaican-run all-inclusive holiday resorts. No Cubans not involved in serving the guests aren’t allowed on the property. If the tourists go off the property, they go into state-run souvenir shops and lousy state-run restaurants. At the holiday resorts, everything - EVERYTHING - is included. All the booze you can drink, all the food you can eat...and there is no tipping. We at the U S Interests Section in Havana (two hours west of Varadero, home of SuperClubs) could get an excellent room there for $135 a night. This was 93-97 so I suppose it’s a bit more expensive now.
It's an odd thing for a journalist to get wrong. Strange.
No wonder he was trying to get off; they were going to Cuba!
That's sarcasm, right? Most journalists couldn't tell you the difference between feet and meters.
