Is it time for Senator Mitch McConnell,Republican Leader - United States Senator for Kentucky,to go?
It is definitely time for McConnell to go.
It is time for almost every one of them to go.
oh please. This is nonsense. Everyone bitched about “teaching a lesson” in ‘06 but didn’t bother to follow through during the primaries and general and now look where we are: terrorists have the same rights in courts as we do, gas is at an all time high, we have to play patty cake to get answers from captured terrorists, and the GOP candidate for president is a yawn. Way to “teach lesson”
why , is he shifting back and forth on his feet and breaking out in a sweat?
Mitch is doing pretty good. Good with press/TV too.
Everyone has to stand up in opposition. Quit bitching.
Mcconnell is a brilliant senate tactician and in my opinion is one of the ONLY ones showing any spine at all in the senate. Would you care to expand why you feel he should go anywhere?
There are plenty of “RINO” Republicans at every political level and Democrats at every political level who truly need to “go” much more than Senator McConnell does!
so far in the past hour, we’ve seen Scalia and McConnell thrown under the bus. Think Reagan will survive the night without tire tracks up his backside?
He has been there to long.
No, it’s time for Pelosi to go. Room reserved in Hell just for her.
Bingo! The Republican Party is in a pretty bad state right now & when you're one of the leaders - the buck stops right at you.
Mitch was on the move before gas cracked the $4.00/ gallon barrier
“Manufacturers Favor McConnell Energy Plan
May 15, 2008
The National Association of Manufacturers welcomed the energy plan (S. 2958) offered May 7 by Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) as an amendment to the Flood Insurance Bill and expressed concerns about the bill offered by Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.).
“The energy plan in Senator McConnell’s amendment will help to diversify our fuel, lower the cost of energy, create jobs, and increase America’s energy security,” said John Engler, association president and chief executive officer. “It’s an important step toward the comprehensive domestic energy policy that America needs for the long-term health of manufacturing and the economy.” Engler called the amendment “a sensible approach to America’s critical energy needs.”

KY. PING
Hmmm, but go where?
Here is the lesson: Even the very worst RINO can usually be reasoned with, and will vote our way most of the time. Reason with the Libs? Mission Impossible.
I think Harry Reid would say yes to your question.
McConnell has been the head of the Republicans in the Senate for too long? He took over in January 2007 from Frist. 18 months is too long?
Good grief.
McConnell has been the only Republican Senate leader to seriously fight against the Democrats since Bob Dole. Lott and Frist certainly lowered the bar, but McConnell has done a good job of fighting off Reid and the press.
Yep. But it’s time for all incumbents to go, regardless of party.
Sorry didn't realize McConnell had only been in the senate for 18 months.
Horrible idea, at the worst possible time in history. In a general election, wih a veto-proof Dem majority and a President Obama at stake? WTF are you thinking?
Mitch has been in the senate since 1984. 24 years. That’s too long for ANYBODY to be there. We need fresh faces.
BO at 43 months— I feel so good about those fresh faces.
To the White House over the two that are running. Or right behind a Bush in another context.
So you think the Republicans are doing a great job?
have I seen a political party do a “great job” yet? The ‘94 Gingrich Republicans were supposed to enact the term limits that we all agree would have been great. They didn’t even try. There is no point of unilaterally disarming, although introducing effervescence as a concept might be beneficial over a decade or so. In the meantime, they’d get creamed every time out of the gate running virtual no names. It’s hard to get anybody to run on the Republican ticket for anything in many states.
Maybe the Republican Party is spent as a force.
what other grouping can you compose to try to get to 50% + 1?
It is those that don't understand the 60% majority requirement of the Senate to pass bills that like the liberal media put the blame on Republicans for not "doing anything".
It has been said people deserve the government you get. Enjoy the starvation , food riots, and chaos of that socialism will bring because you , Michael Savage, and your ilk and the Democrats have combined to destroy that which is the only thing stopping socialism, the Republican party and Republican Mitch McConnel in the Senate.
It is sad to see the greatest country and my way of life being destroyed by ignorance.
The Republican bill, the Gas Price Reduction Act needs to be passed by Congress. It in part will lift the Democrat bans on 118 billion barrels of oil in the outer Continental Shelf and it will also lift the ban on a trillion barrels of oil in oil shale in the Western United States which no one knows about. Democrats of course will try to stop this bill. Please call Republican Mitch McConnell to thank him for pushing this bill and please send these links to everyone.
"The 'Find More' provisions(in the bill) include increased exploration on the Outer Continental Shelf, where states want it, and lifting the ban on western oil shale exploration."We should also lift the ban on oil shale development which the new Democrat Congress enacted last year. Our western states are sitting on a sea of oil three times as large as the oil reserves in Saudi Arabia. Yet, at the insistence of the Democrat majority, we aren't allowed to touch it. They've put a 100 percent ban on oil shale exploration. With gas prices at more than $4 a gallon, this prohibition makes no sense.
He’s been there 24 years - but as GOP leader for 18 months.
And I agree fresh faces would be nice...unfortunately we do not have term limits, and he is still quite preferable over the joker the Democrats have as the opponent.
I went to your home page. I agree with every single thing you said on it! I just don’t think that the Republican Party is headed in the right direction. If they don’t stop - and turn around - they will continue to lose elections. They’ve lost sight of that whole “smaller government” thing.
The Republicans in the Senate are the ONLY thing that can stop Obama, McCain and the Democrats from destroying the U.S.A with government healthcare, cap and trade, Amnesty for illegals, socialism etc. Those not supporting the Republicans in the Senate help this destrucion by Democrats come about much sooner.
You need a super majority, 60%, in the Senate to get anything done or passed in the Senate. Most bills need to get passed in the Senate if it is to become law. But Republicans only had a 51%(R) to 50%(D) bare majority. The liberal mainstream media called that Republicans “completely controlling” the Senate and Congress and the presidency. So then the media blamed every problem, most of them invented like global warming on the Republicans.
Many who call themselves conservatives then refuse to support Republicans saying that Republicans had control of both houses and the Senate so they should have drilled for oil in ANWR , cut spending dramatically, built a fence on the border, privatized SSI etc.” That is just sheer ignorance or purposeful demagoguery. Democrats used filibusters to block measures like drilling in ANWR, proving again that you need a 60% majority to do anything in the Senate.
Yes I do agree with these conservative bashers of the GOP that Bush could have done more but he is just one man. Blaming the whole GOP is not only unfair and incorrect but it helps the Democrats achieve a real super majority in Senate which they will used to turn the U.S.A into a socialist state. If you look at the actual votes on bills in the Congress 90% of Republicans voted the right way to expand drilling, to deny Amnesty to illegals, to cut taxes, to limit government, to strengthen the military, for freedom. And Democrats vote in the exact opposite numbers for Socialism and expanding government and crippling industry and for Amnesty. However 90% of 51 Republican Senators is not enough to get past Democrat filibusters. Most of the government school educated public don’t understand the super majority requirement of the Senate and the liberal media spun this to demonize Republicans. MANY conservatives even on this site also use this tactic wittingly or unwittingly to bash the GOP as a whole , which only helps the Democrats/Marxists, and makes them “useful idiots” for communism as in Stalin’s day.
Well if you agree with everything on my home page then you are a conservative and for freedom and liberty. Maybe the liberal mainstream media has misled you and other conservatives. I don’t know but we only have TWO ,2 choices support the Republicans or support the Democrats. If you look at the votes on bills then a conservative should support Republicans enthusiastically , not all Republicans but most of them (90%) who vote the right way.
You make a passionate argument for your party. I’m not happy with the party’s direction. I’ve worked hard for this party for 34 years and this year, I just can’t get on board with them. I know, the choice is horrible this fall - but I blame the party for us having to make that choice. Bush is the leader & he is mostly to blame, I think. I won’t even go into all the things that I think are wrong. I am disgusted with the whole lot.
Glenn Beck polled his listeners , found 2.5% BO, 25% JM , > 70 % GWB if he could run for a third term
Of course not. What a stupid vanity.
welcome to chat
Do you have a better alternative in an upcoming primary? A lot of purist whiners said the same thing about Rick Santorum being in congress too long in 2006 and we got a worthless rubber stamp to replace him.
“And I agree fresh faces would be nice...unfortunately we do not have term limits, and he is still quite preferable over the joker the Democrats have as the opponent.”
Mr. Reid always looked more like an undertaker to me, not a joker. And Democrats think THAT is the face of diversity!
WHY!???????????????????
Call me a “whiner” if you want to, I’m far from being a “purist” though. I do think that McCain is the worst possible candidate that we could have chosen for this most crucial of elections. The party is floating aimlessly right now. No vision. No leadership.
well.....for the most part, your correct....the Louisville Courier-JoURINAL and Lexington Herald (Mis)Leader...both are long time propaganda rags of the (Marxist Socialist) DemocRAT Party...Your very kind, calling them "newspapers"...
Well, after we convince McConnell and the few other republicans with spines that they have no support, why don’t we all get together, hold hands, and throw ourselves out of that 18th floor window? That way, the people who currently run the congress and who might soon run the Administration can continue their record of stellar achievement with no opposition at all, at all?
He’s been doing a great job against bad odds.
He has been in for 6 terms, and he has done a great job while in there. He has only been in the role of leader for 18 months. And guess what? He is doing a great job in that position.
You want to get rid of a good Senator for what reason again?
Term limits would be a disaster to our freedom and liberty. You think it is hard trying to get a majority of 535 idiots to do the right thing?
Try getting tens of thousands of aides, staffers and lobbyists to do the right thing.
That is precisely what you would end up with if you got term limits. It takes years to get used to learn to wield power in DC, and those unelected power brokers would love to have a fresh crop of Representatives and Senators to run roughshod over.
If you think the elected elite are a problem in DC, wait till you give power to the unelected elite.
You don't like your Representative or Senator? Work to unelect them. There is your term limit.
