Good morning!
Barack Obama continues his Mideast tour, and at least one MSM guy- Howard Kurtz - no conservative critic he - notes the obvious: the MSM is covering Obama as if he's already President.
Many, many thanks to lysie for covering for me in my extended absence.
Good morning!
Good morning, everyone.

Good Morning Molly!
We had .3 inch of rain this morning with lots of wind. Most of the garden is leaning. It’s cool out there and if I had a lick of sense, I’d go out there right now to pull weeds.
Unfortunately, I had other things planned for this morning.
Back from Illinois after the funeral of my sister in law.
Her husband, who is a presbyterian minister, handled the entire service. He did a remarkable job.
So many funerals now that I have attended have had the cremated remains of the loved one.
I still struggle with that idea.
Good Morning you two!
I had trouble sleeping last night...wrapped up reading Halsey' s Typhoon, and it's a harrowing read...the ending especially with all those poor seamen dying in shark-infested waters... altho there some rescued, but not enough.
Good morning, NY.
We need some rain bad, dry with just a few drops falling at a time, need one of those gushers, SPECIAL Irish I have needs some good ole rain water.
Sure will be glad when I get to feeling better, I am so tired of these problems.
Just wanted to get my day started and say ‘good morning’ to the best of the best found anywhere.

Hi Toby...sorry to read you’re still not up to par. That’s tough.
It seems like there's something missing when you see a box of the remains.
A few funerals I've been to some of the remains were put in small viles for family members to keep. It's odd to me to see that.
I thought of you when we were down in Illinois last week. The hotel that we stayed in had a breakfast bar which included biscuits and gravy. I always associate that with fine southern dining.
A neighbor who lost his wife to cancer has a clear glass urn with her ashes on his mantle and a tiny little necklace with ashes in it he wears all the time. Different strokes, I guess.
We’ll see if we down here in deep south TX can’t send some of this moisture up to the parched areas up north. We are to get quite a drenching out of Dolly, indeed we are watching development very closely as we may leave tomorrow instead of Saturday.
The reason we’d leave early is in case of power or internet failure from the storm and to be able to maintain our business. So, I’m getting things pulled together and will be loading like crazy if we decide we should go.
Plus I have the carpet shampooers coming to shampoo the RV this afternoon. Bad timing, I guess.
I could ever bring myself to wear a loved one's ashes.
Good luck with that approaching storm.
Good morning!
Ummmm, next to GRITS!
NY, we spent the weekend in Door County. Had a great time. We stayed in a little motel in Gills Rock; took the ferry to Washington Island; also visited Sister Bay; and stopped in Whitefish Dunes, Newport, and Peninsula State Parks. The weather was great and the food was fabulous; and of course I had to stop at several “cherry markets”.:)
Good Morning All.
IG and prairie, please send us some of your rain. I’m thinking the same thoughts as altura. I may be on the 3rd green doing a rain dance. I’ve been dragging around the hoses, and using the soakers. It is so dry.
altura, I may be joining you in the rain dance. It is just sunny. My plants at 1500 hours look wilted and hot. Even watering the lawn doesn’t perk up the grass.
Good Morning Toby. Hoping you feel better too.
Cremation is definitely the coming thing.
I wouldn’t have even considered it a few years ago and the domestic partner was adamantly against it.
However, I had an epiphany at the memorial service for a friend at my church. It was just like a funeral except no casket sitting there and no trip to a burial site.
The daughters had spread the ashes earlier that day in a meaningful place.
I just suddenly realized that this was what I wanted. My sister hated the idea of her casket sitting there so much ... and she was appalled at the thought of an open casket. She said to me, ‘if you allow my casket to be opened, I swear I will reach up from it and choke you.’
Needless to say, I didn’t take any chances!!!
It’s a lot easier on the family (unless they are opposed for some reason)... they don’t have to pick out a casket and find a spot for the plot. And MUCH cheaper.
Anyway, as far as I know, no religions are against it now. The Catholics were, but that has been changed (unless I am wrong)
Be sure you tell your family if you want this, as some funeral homes will not do it unless family agrees. My best friend at church owns a funeral home.
I just told my daughter to be sure ... very sure ... that I am dead before they do it!
Some things people do with ashes seem kinda sick to me, but different strokes as they say.
Our priest said (when we were discussing this one day) that sometimes family fight over the ashes... one person wanting to spread them here, another person wanting to do this or that ...
Hah! I absolutely assured her that NO ONE in my family would be fighting over my ashes.
Good morning, everyone!
Sorry I got off on a not particularly cheery subject.
It’s wrong to hate, but I really, really don’t like Obama!
Good morning to you.
My friend’s Mom died recently. She was a widow x3 so they divided her ashes in half, one got buried with her first husband and one with the second. The third husband was also a widow and his ashes will be buried with his first wife.
I’m sorry I missed this morning’s discussion regarding cremation.
When I was 35 y.o., I told my husband I wanted to be cremated and my ashed dumped into a can of white paint, and painted on our bedroom ceilings.
I never was sure whether he thought I was kidding.
I have not reached a point where I would be comfortable with cremation. But I definitely know I do not want my casket open to the public.
I like the idea of cremation. I have some of my first husband’s ashes in a box on my bookshelf, and my son and I spread the rest of his ashes in Vail, CO, where he had lived for many years. My dad passed away a month ago, and we’re going to spread his ashes on this river in Oregon where he used to live. I want my ashes spread in Yosemite.
Aw!! So cute!
We’re watching “Dolly” too. Hubby just made the kitties a habitat to shelter in if we should actually get some rain. Our garden is scorched. It’s so hot and dry down here.
Is she moving far?
(((((pb)))))
I agree with you altura....I CAN’T STAND nobama either. I think he’s a fraud, he’s been put together by a committee headed by soros. He’s learned to use the teleprompter and does a beautiful job of it. When he speaks...I mean reads, the text has been put together by a committee, not by him. Now when his wife speaks...that’s her, all her thoughts, all her feelings, all the chips that she’s been saving all these years..she’s herself. I don’t care for her thoughts either. They are both arrogant elitists, law-degreed with our tax dollars. I doubt they had a student loan.
That was thoughtful..she must have been the first wife to both of her 1st 2 husbands.
We have blackland and right now it is like concrete. When they put the berm around our house they used all sorts of peoples throw away clay and whatever. We’re fixing to mix in some sand and compost into the front berm. Roomey wants to put in some nice shade tolerant grass....I want to cover it with nice gravel and place big planters around on it with shade tolerant plants. If we put in grass, plus the front yard, our water bill will be horrendous. Besides big pots won’t use as much water as grass. I’m a Scotsman, he has only a little Scot. I hate to spend money on water.
Great links, Molly. Thank you.

Daughter is moving about 6 hour drive away, so much better than it has been lysie, thanks for asking.
kassie, hope you get some moisture, it’s miserable when it’s so dry. We had 8-9 inches a couple of weeks ago. Helped a lot.
We still don’t know if we will take off early or not....would mostly just be concerned about cell tower or electricity interruption.
Hi. Are you working or relaxing after the long nights you put in?
I bet she’s excited about her new apartment and job.
/johnny
yes, she is. Nervous about the new job too but that’s to be expected.
Our peppers and tomatoes are in planters. We only have a small area that has sun in the afternoon. All the rest of the yard is shaded. Great for south Texas, but not too good for gardening.
Will your daughter still live in the great state of TEXAS?
What is it, another week or 2 and the ‘kraut is done?
Frenchy freaked out, said I should wait until fall. That I was going to die by poisoning myself.
Only ones suffering are the catz. And it's a good thing I live alone. ;)
