Grew up with Conan, he’s as smart as they come. I think he’ll surprise people.

Conan...is not funny.

Over the years I have tried to watch his show, he simply does not have it,

Fallon is an idiot.

I hope Jay finds a gig that works for him, I will follow.

ABC will seek to air a nightly talk-show called “Leno”, starring Jay Leno, in direct competition with NBC’s ‘Tonight Show’. That is a nightmare scenario that NBC cannot allow. Look for Leno to be re-signed by NBC for a gazillion dollars.

Bookmarked.

Agree. Leno was always a pale, watered-down comedian. Johnny used to SMOKE on the show, fer pete’s sake! When I was a kid, I found the 90-min. version of the show really interesting, with these famous adults just sitting around chatting. Leno is so obsequious. O'Brien simply isn't funny. He's a “smart” comedian for dolts.

Conan does not have it. Period. Some may think he is funny - but in reality - he just doesn’t have it, IMHO.

When he comes on - tv goes off.

Or the remote does it’s job, getting me elsewhere.

I think Leno and ultra liberal prick Letterman wouldn't have lasted 2 years if another network had run old Carson Tonight shows against them. Carson was a grandmaster and those two clowns are just amateurs.

Letterman used to be so funny in the first five years or so of his show, then you could feel him wanting the love of the PC liberal Hollywood crowd. I recall articles about how he really wanted NBC to make overtures to him about staying on--he wanted to be LOVED. What a total fool.

The few seconds of his show I've seen over the years reveal he's just another of the many, many comedians who aren't funny but who say the right things and get applause. These comedians don't make the audience laugh, but they make fun of the correct targets (Bush) and, instead of laughter, get applause, which is the crowd's way of saying "I have the correct politics, too!"

But that ain't humor.

When I was a kid, Martin, Hope and the other Carson guests may or may not have shared my parents politics--or they may have--but it didn't matter. They knew their role--they were entertainers, not entertainers who promoted the "proper" way of seeing things. Robin Williams, George Carlin and many others, though funny early on, eventually became entertainers for the PC crowd, their politics blatant and also part of the material.

Seeing Martin casually tap ashes into Gobel's cup--or hearing Gobel talk about no Japanese planes getting past him--is ten times funnier than yet another tired Bush insult.

I was surprised that Leno got the job after Carson retired. When they announced Jay Leno, I went, "who?". I never heard of Jay Leno. I had assumed that they would replace Carson with someone who was at least almost as famous and legendary as he was.
