Mother of missing Caylee Anthony seeks jail release to help in search Amy L. Edwards and Walter Pacheco | Sentinel Staff Writer 10:16 AM EDT, July 22, 2008 The grandmother of missing 2-year-old Caylee Marie Anthony wants her daughter out of jail to help search for the toddler, but admits her daughter cannot tell police the truth about the girl's disappearance or why she has lied. "I don't think she can tell police anything," Cindy Anthony said this morning on CBS's Early Show. "She has her reasons why she can't be completely honest." Cindy Anthony alluded that 22-year-old Casey Anthony left the toddler with someone who has possibly threatened the family. "I think she entrusted [Caylee] with the same person who has been threatening her and that's why she can't be honest," Cindy Anthony said on the nationally televised show.

I posted this because I think this grandmother is NUTS! She’s been on every news channel lately (Megyn Kelly, Greta, Nancy Grace) and she’s combative and bombastic. She told Greta she should do something she’s finally proud of (paraprased).

This whole story is bizzare and so is the family. All these cloak and dagger comments flying around are ridiculous when they need to just come clean and let folks know where the child is.

I heard the phone in interview with the grandma on Fox yesterday - boy Meghan was not happy by the end of that convo! Is the Mom of this little girl a druggie?

That mother has sold that child or traded her for drugs...

Mark my words..that’s what’s happened...And the grandmother knows the truth.

This is the strangest story I’ve seen in some time, yet probably still pretty basic. Th “mom” can’t tell the truth to the police to help find the girl, while the police are singularly focused on finding the girl. The grandma is completely nuts (and is likely complicite in whatever occurred). To me, there is a good reason the “mom” doesn’t mind being locked up on obstruction charges: because she is trying to avoid a worse charge. Strange, yet basic.

That was my first thought too. The grandma knows her daughter did something but is trying to avoid that aspect in hopes of finding the child.

I loved how Meghan Kelly ended her interview with the rude grandma by saying something like "obviously we are trying to help locate the child, unlike some of the family members" - it was a great slam

something else that was too weird; there was a comment made that when the little girl was born she was taken directly from the mother and given to the grandmother.

Either 1) mother tested positive for drugs (VERY possible) OR 2) grandmother is a complete nut control freak that has wedged herself between the two.

Bottom line is, I do think the grandmother knows what happened and either the little girl is already dead or she’s been sold off.

The crazy granny even had almost exactly the same fit on Geraldo on Saturday night I think. She’s too defensive for someone who doesn’t know anything.

She knows exactly where that baby is..and if the cops are smart, they won’t play her game.

I would assume they took the baby from the mother and gave to the grandma - even the most controlling of grandmothers can't legally take the child without permission.

So you probably hit the nail on the head there - the daughter is a white trash drug addict who sold off her child for a fix and didn't even realize it or care for weeks. Probably didn't care until someone in her family finally started asking questions and she had to lie to cover her a$$

It’s nuts! The mother needs to start talking. The grandmother is a bit nuts. You can talk to her but don’t ask any hard questions or she goes off the handle.

If this daughter has been in trouble for years, they probably didn’t see her for weeks at a time - drug addicts hide from family - So they probably didn’t realize the baby was missing at first. However, how do you leave a baby with a drug addict anyway? I would turn my own child in if she/he were harming their child. The child’s welfare comes first over the selfishness of the adult -

And the worst part is that's the happiest scenario we can come up with. My fear is that mommy killed the child.

If the child were alive, you would think someone would have seen her and reported something to the cops by now.

Seems like grandma is enjoying being a victim in front of cameras. If she is truly innocent about the whereabouts of Cayley, I sympathize with her. But no one goes on camera that often without knowing questions will be asked. She is a weird lady.

Exactly what I said to someone last night, that they should be waterboarded. It is hard to justify putting so many resources into searching for the child when they DO know what has happened and likely know where she is. And the grandmother has assured us that the mother would not have done anything to jeopardize the child’s safety.... So maybe they should stop looking until some verifiable story comes to the surface.

This case does not make a bit of sense.

If Caylee's mother wants her daughter found, why can't she tell authorities where she is and why does she need to get out of jail "to talk"?

As for the grandmother, she's torn between finding her granddaughter and covering for her nutcase daughter.

And, it's easy to see that the daughter is off her rocker because she took after her mother.

I don't think she's nuts. I think she's in denial about her daughter. She wants her granddaughter back and her own daughter to not be punished for anything and for everyone to live happily ever after.
Sadly, I don't think she's ever going to see her granddaughter again.

Obviously the police aren't buying this kidnapped story - they have arrested the Mom. I'm sure they are checking into the boyfriend too.

I recall when Scott Peterson murdered his wife and child I heard the police comment that something like 90% of murdered pregnant women are killed by the husband. I wonder if there is a correlation between drug addict mothers being involved with their own missing child?

No, I don't think grandma does know. The story is that grandma was the person who called the police, so that wouldn't make sense.

I think she knows the daughter is a POS, but can't admit that, even to herself.

This story is starting to come together in a picture which tells the tale of a daughter who has been coddled and enabled her entire life.

I think that this two year old might possibly be alive, however, Casey knows of some threat to herself or a loved one if she divulges any of the truth. This would explain the reasoning behind grandma’s comment to Greta that “Casey told me that she was relieved that *I’m* the one that called the police and not her.”

But grandma then said to Greta “I’m really losing steam and if you want me to collapse on your studio so that you’ll have sensationalism I’m real close.” That about ended the interview.

Here is a link to last night’s interview:

That grandma is trying to play the victim. Yesterday on Greta she came across as a drama queen as she babbled nonsense.

Where is the father? Grandma said he is dead. But how do we know since her daughter lies like a sociopath and the grandma is not wrapped too tight and claims to not even know his name? Something smells.

Maybe I'm different, but if someone kidnapped one of my children with the threat to "other" family members, I'd say let the adult family members defend themselves, I'm saving the baby..... Maybe I have more confidence in the police or FBI - but the child's welfare would come first for me. I'm not buying this story at all.

And yes, I think the grandma suspects what has happened and is playing along for her daughter.

I’ve seen some of her interviews. I think the situation has driven her to the point of exhaustion and almost panic and she’s emotionally hanging on by a thread.
She’s trying to protect her daughter because she can’t believe that she would do anything to harm the little girl.
Sadly, she’s going to be without both of them - except on prison visiting days.

Couldn’t make it thru all nine minutes of Greta interview. The nutty Gma was certainly all about “me” “me” “me”! I’m exhausted blah blah blah-why go on if you don’t can’t answer any questions? Bitch slap the daughter until she talks. If baby gone for 5 weeks Lord knows what has happened to her if she is even alive. The mom looks like a real nut job and Gma sure sounds and behaves like one too.

IF anyone does have the child, they will have done whatever they wanted to by now. So there is NO LOGICAL REASON to not have the police rescue the child. If the child is already DEAD by the hand of them mother and with help of the Grandmother, then I can better understand this bizarre charade.

It is the child that is the victim (dead or alive) by SELFISH, COWARDLY ADULTS. Grandma is no better than her daughter.

One theory, I suppose (considering the grandma’s nuttiness), is that the daughter removed the child because of abuse and grandma knows that might be the case. Also why daughter won’t talk, cause she fears the child might go back to grandparents?

I saw the interview last night, also. I'm surprised that Greta wasted so much time on this babbling, "victim" nutcase. I actually admire Greta for keeping her cool and professionalism despite her obvious frustration and contempt as the granny dissembled and tried to take control of the interview.

However, Greta is a trained interrogator from her lawyerly past and may have been trying to trip up Grandma with a lot of probing questions.

But Grandma was having no part of Greta's game and didn't budge off the dime.

I think lit straws under the fake fingernails might do the trick if the police are ever to find the child, if she's alive and if it's not too late.

There's a lot at stake here. This woman is a phoney, a controller and surprisingly unemotional about her grandaughter's fate.

She was only emotional about herself....lack of sleep, too many interviews, on and on. Everything about her is unnatural.

Because she is a liar and probably killed the child. The grandmother is as bad as the mother IMO. They are both nuts!

The daughter also said the father of the child is dead and the grandmother has never met him but says she saw an obituary and believes her daughter. DUH! Did she kill him too?! Or, is that also a lie?

Can you believe parents would actually go on television and demand that people look for your missing grandchild when the person who KNOWS where she is is YOUR DAUGHTER but you won't ask her?!!!
