BANNING, Calif. Banning police say three women attacked a former beauty queen over a flirtatious remark made to one of their boyfriends and with a razor blade facially scarred her for life.
Labrea Clayonda Steward, 27, Erica Michelle Bastidas, 21, and Azia Jene Aldred, 24, are accused of attacking a 20-year-old former varsity cheerleader and beauty queen, slashing her in the face and back with a razor blade.
The brawl apparently erupted in front of Banning 2005 "Peach Queen" Shanice Wilson's home in the 400 block of East Hoffer Street on July 11.
Wilson told police she made a comment to Bastidas' boyfriend about riding his scooter. The boyfriend, Clarence Dunahoo, told her: "You can ride anything you want."
The comment from her boyfriend apparently enraged Bastidas, who was nearby and allegedly said to Wilson, "That's not funny, bitch. You'll get yours."
Wilson then saw Bastidas talking to two other women and challenged her. Wilson said, "Come outside the fence and get your fade," according to a sworn declaration. "Get your fade" is slang for getting knocked out.
Wilson told police she came around the fence and Bastidas rushed her and began throwing punches, according to Banning police Officer Greg Herrington. Wilson and Bastidas were on the ground fighting when Aldred allegedly began hitting her on the body and face and pulling her hair.
Wilson passed out briefly. When she regained consciousness, the other women were walking away, according to Wilson's account to police.
Wilson told investigators she believed Aldred was the one who cut her face, because she heard the other woman say: "Now every time she sees her face in the mirror, she will remember me," according to the declaration.
Doctors at Desert Regional Hospital told police that Wilson would likely be scarred for life. She needed 32 staples to close a cut on her upper back, but deep cuts to her face were too severe for stapling, Herrington said.
Aldred surrendered last Wednesday, and Bastidas was picked up at her home last Thursday, police said. An arrest warrant was issued for Steward, who was arrested Saturday, police said.
Steward was charged with aggravated mayhem and assault with a deadly weapon liable to cause great bodily injury. Both Steward and Bastidas are scheduled to be arraigned Friday.
Aldred pleaded not guilty to the charges last Friday and is due back in court this Friday for a felony settlement conference.

I know this does not sound pc but I knew the women would be black. I was hoping I was wrong.
Labrea, like the tar pits with all the prehistoric animal fossils. Cool name!
Why don’t these women ever go after the man? Wimps.
Actually they look kinda olive, tan and brown
;-)
... I know what you meant.
I hate this crap. What awful girls.

More like La Brea Bl. under the 10 overpass, where she was conceived.
Because the type of "man" these slags hang with would use their own razor if they even so much as confronted him.
Chicken $h!+.
"But I LOVE him!"
I call this the Lesley Gore Syndrome.
Well, where they are going... they won't need boyfriends for a few years now...
I looked for some time to find her picture and kept coming up with a recording artist of the same name.
those savages will have a lovely time in jail with the real hard ones. they’ll be in tears nightly.
Lesley Gore is a Lesbian. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lesley_Gore#Sexual_orientation
Then and Now...
Also, one of her songs is "You Don't Own Me" - radical for it's time (1962/1963):
You don't own me, I'm not just one of your many toys
You don't own me, don't say I can't go with other boys
And don't tell me what to do
And don't tell me what to say
And please, when I go out with you
Don't put me on display, 'cause
You don't own me, don't try to change me in any way
You don't own me, don't tie me down 'cause I'd never stay
Oh, I don't tell you what to say
I don't tell you what to do
So just let me be myself
That's all I ask of you
I'm young and I love to be young
I'm free and I love to be free
To live my life the way I want
To say and do whatever I please
And don't tell me what to do
Oh don't tell me what to say
And please, when I go out with you
Don't put me on display
I don't tell you what to say
Oh don't tell you what to do
So just let me be myself
That's all I ask of you
I'm young and I love to be young
I'm free and I love to be free
To live my life the way I want
The photos weren’t really necessary. Labrea, Clayonda, Azia, Shanice. Even Bastidas conveyed a visual image.
It the testosterone.....I think some people have more of it than others, and most females carry some...but some women carry a lot....testosterone=aggression...
This is where I differ with the current justice system.
Those girls meant to damage her forever, and they did.
Justice to me would be locking them up forever. American streets are for people, not animals. I don’t think they should ever be released. Let them rot in there.
I didn’t know she was a lesbian. When I came up with the term “Lesley Gore Syndrome,” I was thinking of “It’s My Party (and I’ll Cry If I Want To)” and “It’s Judy’s Turn to Cry.” I’ve always found it irritating that Lesley casts Judy as the primary villain in these songs, and actually wants that two-timing creep Johnny back.
Bastidas looks like Sarah Silverman!
Thanks for explaining. Your description makes sense in light of Its My Party (and Ill Cry If I Want To) and Its Judys Turn to Cry.
There have been articles written about these type of songs and the attitudes they represent.
I do think that Lesley Gore did make up for it with her “You Don’t Own Me”, which I see is also 1963. So she must have been on to something back then.
I just happen to know about Lesley Gore because I looked her up on the Internet a while ago. I remembered she was quite cute in the 1966/1967 Batman episode where she sang California Nights.
I knew people changed over time, she did look more mature, naturally, but I was quite surprised about reading about her partner. Apparently this is something she discovered a bit later in life. I still wound up getting her greatest hits CD.
I think The police / social workers call it “Battered Woman’s syndrome” when they encounter the battered and bruised woman who won’t leave her abusive boyfriend etc.
Which is why the police now always arrest the man (except in cases where the woman is obviously beating on the guy and he has done nothing to hit back), and ignore the woman’s “He didn’t do anything to me / “I don’t want to prosecute.”
As to the young women who fight over the thug guys - From a practical standpoint, many of these women are not desirable enough to get a “good” man for whatever reason (bad personality, bad attitude, being lazy, already have kids by other men, etc.) so they have to fight over the bad boys.
And, as another poster said, these type of guys don’t have a problem with (or don’t think about) going to jail for violence against someone, even a woman, who disrespects them enough to confront them / chew them out for being a dog.
It’s just very sad when someone gets a leg up and is trying to make it and is brought down by the neighborhood thugs. Just goes to show that the best course of action for someone to make it out of the bad section of town is to move away at the earliest opportunity...
