as a mets fan, i can honestly say: i hope both teams lose.

really though, i love watching sox/yanks games. my girl is a huge yanks fan. but i have a soft spot in my heart for the sox. i was 10 in 1986.

Same here.

Although, being that my in-laws are big-time, annoying in-your-face Red Sox fans, I usually get some quiet satisfaction in seeing the Sox loose.

When the Rays were going on their tear recently, that was heaven!

best time i ever had at a baseball game was when i had a tournament in chicago and me and the boys went to a double header at wrigley. well, we went to the bars outside of wrigley. finally made it in at around the 3rd inning of game 2.

whole team (and the girls we picked up) walked in through the bullpen entrance up to the bleachers. G-d i love the chicago PD.

I predict Chamberlain hits Youk, bench-clearing brawl ensues. Manny stays in the dugout.

Was in NYC a few years ago, on family vacation. My "hometown" Mariners were in town that week so we went to the Yankee stadium. Bleacher seats.

Center field section 127(IIRC) was the crazies who boo'd the Red Sox all night long - even though the Yanks were beating my Mariners.

Now THAT's intense!

I predict that the Devil Rays will stumble to first place, while the Red Sox grab the wild card. The fags in pinstripes who play in da ghetto will have to wait until 2009.

The Red Sox have replaced the Yankees as the most obnoxious baseball franchise. I’m hoping for a Yankees sweep.

You said: I predict Chamberlain hits Youk, bench-clearing brawl ensues.

Chamberlaim tried..again. No bench-clearing brawl last night, but I expect Jeter or A-Rod will be inspecting the dirt around home plate sometime today or tomorrow and benches could empty.

If it doesn’t happen today, just wait till the rivalry boils over on the ESPN Sunday night game tomorrow. Yikes.

Joba the Hut has thrown at Youkilis’ head three times and behind him once without retalitian since he joined the Yankee staff last fall. You just feel that retaliation will happen soon.

Wakefield is pitching for the Sox today, so if it were to happen it would be later in the game once he is gone. More likely Sunday.

I am sure Beckett wishes he had one more inning.

The Yankee veterans need to pull the kid aside and tell him to knock it off since another player is going to have to pay for Chaimbermaid’s actions. He’s a great pitcher but if he winds up taking another man’s career away from them then he’s going to find himself having a stained legacy.

Someone on the Yankees side needs to be thrown at and likely Jeter up and tight to send a message. Hopefully that will promote the right discussion in the club house.

By the way, that ump embarrased himself and the game last night. He was giving Rivera up to 6 inches off the 3rd base side of the plate last night. He rung up Lowell and Ellsbury on pitches that were in the batter’s box and Drew’s called strike 3 was wide as well.

When Mike Lowell loses it you had to have done something wrong.

I share the same fear you do.

He’s throwing at people’s heads. If the ball gets away from him he could kill or end the career of another player. It has come to the point where there needs to be retaliation and the same goes the other way. I would hate to see a player on the Yankees suffer because this kid is an idiot.

I missed the Sox half of the 8th inning because of a power failure and only got the game back on when Lowell was batting in the ninth.

That called third strike was about as bad a ball/strike call I have seen.

It seemed like Mike had Rivera where he wanted him, and really thought Lowell was going to hit a walk-off home run.

We’ll never know.

I really wonder what MLB does about umpires who miss the zone as badly as that guy did last night and it wasn’t just the Sox who got scrwewed. A-Rod was rung up on a pitch that wasn’t a strike as well. Bad pitch calls change the complexion of an at bat and it leaves both pitchers and hitters alike guessing on what to throw or what to cover/what to take. I have seen player whiff on outside pitches because the ump decides to widen the plate and the batter has to swing at stuff way low and outside or pitchers having innings get extended because strike 3 becomes ball 2 and the next pitch is hit.

But then again, Hansen couldn’t find the K-Zone if you gave him a seeing eye dog.

That had to hurt though....
