Terry McAuliffe is known for being loyal.
As Hillary Clintons longtime friend and campaign manager, he battled on her behalf until the bitter end of her long quest for the Democratic presidential nomination.
So the former Democratic Party chair made waves this week after he told a crowd of Virginia Democrats the politician he thinks Barack Obama should choose as his vice presidential running mate.
It wasnt Clinton - a possible clue that the Senator from New York has been bumped from Obamas list of potential VPs. If you needed a clue.
Instead, according to the Falls Church News-Press, McAuliffe pointed to Virginia Governor Tim Kaine. McAuliffe was adamant in his recommendation of Kaine as the Democratic Party's vice presidential nominee, the News-Press reported.
On Thursday, McAuliffe aide Tracy Sefl wouldnt say whether McAuliffes speech was actually an endorsement for Kaine - or what it might mean for Clintons shot at the VP nomination.
"Mr. McAuliffe obviously thinks very highly of Governor Kaine and praised him in his trademark exuberant way to a packed room of Virginia Democrats, Sefl said.
And then, the requisite hedge: There's a tremendous field of potential Vice Presidential candidates. And Mr. McAuliffe supports whatever decision Senator Obama makes."

Oh please no! I’ve had to suffer through Kaine as mayor of Richmond and now as Governor. I can’t imagine him as VP.The man is a total empty suit. Come to think of it, that’s probably why Obama would like him - birds of a feather and all that.
Hill, Rendell, Webb, etc...know that Obama is going to get stomped. They are all aiming for 2012 knowing McCain will be a one termer-by then the GOP base will be even more alienated.
Its more likely a sign that Hillary doesn’t WANT to be on this ticket because the Clintons appear to despise Obama, and she would gain much personally if he were to lose to McCain.
Agree — and I would bet anything that the Clintons will be voting for McCain!
Kaine already said he wasn’t interested. Of course, Kaine lies a lot.
Quiz: who was the last governor to become VP?
Hillary wants nothing to do with Obama or being on the ticket. She knows a loser when she sees one. She’s probably laying plans this very minute for 2012.
