Customers shopping for clothes at the Charli boutique watched in amazement when two uniformed men marched in and threatened staff with criminal prosecution.
Their crime? Putting out rubbish in the wrong-coloured bin bags.
Council officers announced that the shop in Muswell Hill, North London, would be fined £300 after using black bags because they had run out of the grey version issued by the local authority.
The designer store had been waiting since July 1 for a delivery of new bags, but by the 17th staff decided they would have to put their rotting rubbish out in four standard black bags - a decision which cost them £75 per bag.
Owner Sangita Ibrahim, 47, said: 'The shop was really busy and they came in here like the Gestapo.

That was the title and not my spelling.
I do say,I think the Brits have gone completly mad.
Coming to a city and town near you...
‘Litter Hitlers’
That’s the country that prosecutes innocent homeowners for defending themselves against violent intruders.
it’s easier to make and enforce laws regulating the law-abiding than it is to do anything about truly anti-social stuff.
Apparently there is a problem with “fly-tippers”, who put their trash into other people’s bins, so the businesses get special colored bags.
I’m confused as to why the fly-tippers don’t have bins of their own - isn’t city trash pickup paid for by taxes?
I’m also confused as to why the business would be cited for what the fly-tippers did (even though in this case it was not FTs and the citation is being expunged). Were they supposed to lock their trashbins to keep FTs out?
Seems to me keeping the trash and rotting food around is a health hazard. Thats much more significant the using the wrong dang bag.
That’s a pretty nice scam the Brits have going. Don’t issue the proper color trash bag, and then fine people when they don’t have it.
These Euroweenie sitzpinklers deserve to be overrun by Mohammedeans.
Feh. Forgot the SARCASM TORPEDO tag in post @12.
Make a run by the shop late-night after a few pints and haul the garbage down the street a bit, then dump it on the corner next to the post. Leave a printed note.
Grey bags only please!
The fine has been rescinded.
'Having investigated the situation with our contractors who collect trade waste and supply the trade waste bags, we will be contacting the shop to arrange cancelling the enforcement notice in this case.'
This is just the kind of crap the government will force upon the subjects when the guns are taken from the citizens. Trash bag police! Que the Monty Python Skit.
Yea — making sure people are using the correct color of trash bags is SO much more important than say, keeping the public safe from home-grown terrorists. ~~sarc~~
That’s your nanny-state folks!
How many times a minute are those Brits allowed to blink?
I heard someone on the radio say (tongue-in-cheek) that the environmental-whackos will soon be telling us to hold our breath for (fill-in-the-blank) seconds/minutes a day to cut down on the CO2 we exhale, thereby, lessening our “carbon footprint”! That will be algore’s next project!
“Their crime? Putting out rubbish in the wrong-colored bin bags.”
I guess Hitler was way ahead of his time.
Why didn’t the Brits just surrender to Germany in WW11.
Yeah, I know, they would be speaking German Instead of English.(sarc.)

“The fine has been rescinded.”
So? The whole thing is asinine to start with. Having to use a certain color bag is stupid. Paying people to enforce the use of certain color bags is stupid. Using tax dollars to supply those bags is stupid. Not proving the bags tax dollars have paid for is stupid. Fining people for not using the right color of bag that you refused to provide at tax payer expense is stupid.
When I was in school studying history I used to wonder how people let their govt do stuff to them. What we are seeing today is the precursor to turning people into little green crackers. At tax payer expense of course.
