I attended school to obtain my flight certificate so that I could fly in a B-52. I attended this school in Rapid City. The first day of class I was seated next to a Capt Key. I introduced my self and he said “my name is Jim Key”. I asked “Any relation to Francis?” He looked at me with a slight grin and said, “Yes, he was my great great great grand uncle!” Why did you ask?” I said “He was a great American Hero and you are a proud great..nephew!”

Wow! Goose bumps! I have had the pleasure of seeing similar starts to USAF events (my son is a grad of the USAFA). Was this in Columbus, OH? I ask because he's in Columbus, MS and I don't remember him talking about a recent airshow.

During one visit to the Academy (CO Springs), the especially large flag that they fly on special occasions was on display. The lanyard broke. You should have seen the cadets running for the flag to keep it from falling on the ground. They succeeded. That was and inspiring moment, too. I'm so proud to be an Air Force Mom!
