The evangelical atheists do take evolution seriously. But I'd be surprised to learn that a lot of Obama supporters are voting for him solely because of evolution.
This story has nothing whatsoever to do with the Presidential campaign.
Detrich sees a lot of ills as stemming from the teaching of evolution, including sexual activity among youths.
"When you teach children that they are apes, they will reproduce like apes," he wrote in a questionnaire. "Stop teaching evolution, and the sex ed issue will take care of itself."
What nonsense! And he thinks he's qualified for a school board?
What kind of apes? Pan troglodytes, Pan paniscus, Gorilla gorilla, Gorilla beringei, Pongo pygmaeus, Pongo abelii, Homo sapiens, Hylobates lar, Hylobates agilis, Hylobates muelleri, Hylobates moloch, Hylobates pileatus, Hylobates klossii, Hoolock hoolock, Hoolock leuconedys, Symphalangus syndactylus, Nomascus concolor, Nomascus nasutus, Nomascus leucogenys, or Nomascus gabriellae?
