In his first series role in 40 years, Jon Voight has signed on for the upcoming seventh season of "24."
On the Emmy-winning Fox drama, Voight will play Jack Bauer's (Kiefer Sutherland) uber-nemesis who is pulling the strings behind next season's terrorist threat.
The character will be introduced during "24's" two-hour Season 7 prequel and will be featured heavily in the latter half of the season.

I will watch the first episode, at the first sign of claptrap propaganda, I close the book.
Not only that but in this day and age, the bad guy is another white guy. If they name the bad guy “Goros” or “Mutin”, I would go along. Otherwise, there is only one big threat to the US right now, and that is Islam and WMDs. China is a long-term threat, and Russia likes to make noise, but neither are a serious threat at this moment. Postulating rich white bad guys, like in a James Bond or Austin Powers movie, just makes the series into a cartoon.
Don't get me wrong, I really like Jon, but this is not a great sign for his career. I think it signals he's not getting good enough Hollywood roles, and wants to pump up his level of visibility by using TV as a publicity vehicle.
Maybe it can work, and I hope it does. But, sadly, an actor's available roles often hinge as much on youth and looks as acting talent. How many examples can you think of, of actors who played good guys, or attractive women, who wound up playing villains and hags as they aged? I'm thinking of Gregory Peck going from handsome good guy to his role in "The Boys from Brazil," but there are tons more.
“Anaconda” wasn’t a great sign, either ;)
Remember when it was an appearance on “The Love Boat”?
Indeed, it was not.
Maybe the roles with Nicholas Cage on the US treasures don't auger well, because they were supporing roles rather than leading roles, which means he's moving down the icon scale.
No he’s not a communist. But he’s certainly not conservative or republican. He does believe in private gun ownership. However he IS the son of Donald and Canadian socialist founder Tommy Douglass’ daughter so he has some VERY liberal credentials.
Trying not to. (eyeroll)
I wonder if Janeane Gorafalo and the first butch president will still be in it?
Or worse yet: "Fantasy Island".
Now it's "reality" television.
In real life isn’t Kiefer a communist and Voight a conservative? If so, leave it to Hollywood to never show the truth.
_______
LOL. And it would be Hollywood’s job to highlight the politics of either of these people exactly why?
I have not been informed of the political stance of each and every one of Howie’s ‘open the case’ girls on Deal or No Deal and I want to know why!!!!!
they are actors... playing roles, often unlike themselves...
i think this happens in just about any field... a police officer ages, cannot do the job he did when he was 30 years younger... eventually retires from that job and perhaps does security work or something else... some people retire from the job they were doing for decades and become "consultants," others go work at Home Depot, some run a bed and breakfast...
maybe Jon Voigt wants the security of an on-going job like a television series... he's not the star so he's not required to be there all of the time... now if he moved on to soap operas, i just might think he was doing it for publicity...
I heard him on a talk show yesterday, but I can’t remember which one.
Mark Levin
Did you know that Anthony Hopkins is NOT a vicious cannibalistic serial killer?!?
