“Well watch for reporters in boats :’)”

There was a reporter earlier in a parking lot somewhere talking about how (and I paraphrase) the “lower elevations of the parking lot were beginning to take on some water...” and I had to squint at the screen to see where the water was and IT WAS A MUD PUDDLE....I kid you not!

What exactly does one’s I.Q. have to be to be a reporter? Not much apparently seeing how far Sheppard Smith has gotten...

“The water is brown all the way to the horizon.”

Alrighty now, we can’t blame that on Eduoard..I’ve never seen that water any other color ;0)

It was sand bags down here...the lines were as farrrrrrrrr as you could see them...in reality ...every storm the city gives them out at designated schools. Yeah they have long lines but the reporters ought to come back when school is in session and see the line of people waiting to pick up the kiddies.

Nederland, TX (by Port Arthur) reporting here. Our neighbors across the street were without power for about three hours. Somehow, we were lucky, never losing electricity once. Just a typical, blustery tropical storm event. Might have gotten 50mph winds, I suppose. Not much beyond that.

But good grief, after staying here and having Rita rampage directly over me three years ago, I can’t even get mildly excited. The local (Triangle) weathermen have been pretty good... calm and measured; But the reporters out of Houston have been ridiculous, bordering on hysteria. What’s their dang problem? It’s so embarrassing just watching them.

Correct about the Houston weathermen. Mayor Bill White is just as bad. I'm in downtown on the 28th floor and it's pretty boring. Not raining anymore just drizzling, building not swaying. Lots of people stayed home to avoid the impending disaster(/s). Starbuck IS open so all will be well.

If you knew how badly Houston streets and neighborhoods flood you might understand.

Bostwick does an excellent job in these events and is usually spot on with his analysis. The major media is hype pure and simple trying to drive ratings, imo.

Perhaps. I do recall the Allison situation. It’s just that I really miss the mature decorum that used to be a part of ‘news’ as a whole. And with each passing tropical system, it seems the reporting gets more and more ridiculous.

We’re still getting heavy rain and strong wind in West Chambers Co. S. of I-10. I’ve had over 6” of rain so far.

Hey, that's good news. It was probably best people off today. It gave yall time to take care of personal needs. Besides we never know if it's going to be a dud or a dude until it gets here’:)

Well I am back, power is out, generator cranked up, lost internet for about 30 minutes, we’ll see how long it takes for the power to return.

Got your carbon monx dectector on? It’s good that you can use yours. We couldn’t during Dolly...only after the wind settled down (have to keep the garage door open). My husband is building a generator house outside for next time.

I hear you I am sick of ‘looming disasters” myself. Starting with the ‘globull climate disaster” but it has been expanded to include every single thing that happens in the world. The media has decided that they must scare us to get us to listen to them.

BTW I didn't notice the local media being hysterical over this storm.

Welcome back! We haven’t lost power here but the Dish has gone out a couple of times. The rain has slowed down some and the winds come and go. Our ditches are full and the lower street areas are flooded. Not surprising, that’s how it is in most heavy rain storms. Made a trip down to the bayfront park here in the neighborhood. A PortO-Can was blown over. I sure hope no one was in it when that happened.

My brother just called to tell me about a neighbor of his. Instead of buying a new house, this guy remodeled his house and included some kind of generator that will power his entire house down to computers and hairdryers. It is powered by propane and is designed to kick in anytime the power goes off.

The generator alone cost $18,000 so I doubt if Mr. Ditter will rush out and get one.

Looks like the rain will hit from DFW to Austin. San Antonio, Kerrville and the dead dry zone looks to be out of luck!

Yes, but they got pounded by the rain from Dolly. Here farther north, we didn't get a drop. I sure hope it's our turn and not just another tease with clouds and nothing more.

We have gotten absolutely NO wind, just bands of wonderful rain. Sorry the hill country is not getting it.
