Ignorance tries to sneak into schools

H.L. Mencken said during the Scopes Trial in 1925 that "those religious groups leading the war against the teaching of evolution are conspiracies of the inferior man against his betters."

The proponents of teaching the God-creation theology in public schools have not given up despite the U.S. Supreme Court rulings like the 1987 case where Louisiana tried to use code words for teaching creationism, calling it the Balanced Treatment Act.

Other code words for sneaking God into science class are "intelligent design" and "academic freedom." And these anti-evolutionists lobby state legislatures and put political pressure on school boards to subvert the teaching of evolutionary theory and common sense, and people had better stand up against them.

A person has the right to remain ignorant regarding science and believe in any kind of religion they want, but keep it out of the public schools.

There are lines, obviously. where teachers overstep the boundaries between being a teacher and overtaking parental control.

Parents should not be under police threat to submit their children to a government that is working to destroy their religion. ( godless or God-centered).

If our Founding Fathers could see the freedom of conscience monstrosity that is modern government education, they would have put in the First Amendment that government shall not establish government education!

I thought it was obvious that I meant in school, perhaps I should have been more clear.

One brother I have home schools all his children, another had them go through public school. The home-schooled definitely know a lot more facts, however, the public schooled had much government propaganda debunked at home by their parents.

My two sons were already almost graduated from school when I had them (step), but I taught my grandson to read with phonics before the school system got to him. I will be debunking and teaching him.

If my children were to come home telling me the earth was only 5000 years old, I'd work with them to dispel them of that notion.

On of my nieces came home from school one day and told my brother that her teacher (elementary or middle school?) told the class that salt water can’t freeze.

He had to “re-educate” her and then he contacted the teacher to “re-educate” him.

Parents need to be aware of what their children are being taught in school and an active advocate for sound education, in any school for that matter, public, private or parochial.

And home school parents should be careful about from where they are getting their curriculum. There are some excellent resources for home schoolers, I understand the Calvert School is one of the best. Parents who want to use sources like Answers In Genesis to teach their children about science are within their rights to do so, but I think they are doing their children a great disservice.

Sorry sir, you are incorrect. Science proceeds on faith in OBSERVATIONS not facts. Allow me to provide you the definition of science:

systematic knowledge of the physical or material world gained through observation and experimentation.

Therefore, those that choose to believe in science have to accept on FAITH an number of presupposition. First, you must believe or accept on faith that what is observed is truth. This is a critical tenant of science because the moment you accept that there are things unknown that can’t be observed, then science can no longer govern that area.

The second tenant of FAITH in science is that the universe is systematic. This is critical because if there is an instance were things are not systematic, then the purpose of science is no longer valid.

Science is simply a belief system. And like many religion’s, it’s true believers will not allow room in their world for any challenges.
