LOS ANGELES -- Barack Obama is getting praise from Nashville, courtesy of one big, patriotic country star.
Toby Keith, perhaps best known to non-country audiences for his post-Sept. 11 song "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue," says he's a Democrat, and was impressed by the senator from Illinois.

TK has always been a Dem. To my knowledge, he’s not loading his concerts with Obama crap, so I don’t mind.

The hell with Willie and his ‘herbal medicine’! Toby just made a movie with Ted Nugent! Not only that, this movie is about to be released (”Beer for My Horses”). Uncle Ted will not be pleased that the star of a movie he’s about to be seen in will be making such an idiot statement.
I think the Nuge is about to put on his war paint and head out to track down Mr. Keith and “re-educate” him.

We don’t pay him for his intellect, but for his voice. I can’t boycott his music as I don’t buy country CDs anyway—country is just on in the car, to horrify my neighbors. But at least now we know that Toby is no smarter than the average performer, which isn’t saying much.

If I got bent out of shape over the politics of every group I liked, I wouldn’t have many to choose from. People can believe whatever they want. Just because I disagree with them doesn’t mean I should demonize them. Honest debate among good Americans is good for the republic.

Toby supports the troops but he’s always been a dim.
I’ve never been a Toby Keith fan, but I gotta admit that “How Do You Like Me Now?” is a very good tune.

Oh, no! Not Toby! Geesh! I just don’t understand how otherwise seemingly intelligent people can listen to this guy (Obama) and think he would be good for our country.
Toby’s career is doing fine at the moment. He has a new single that will be in the top 10 when Billboard releases their new chart. Not bad for 8 weeks in release. But nothing lasts forever.
A lot of country acts are libs, including Tim McGraw & Faith Hill who went on TV spouting about Katrina.

Now Toby's in the movies and hanging around the Hollyweird folks so he suddenly has become an expert on all things politics.
I like Toby’ songs but his choice of presidential candidates leaves lots to be desired.
Toby is just wanting to be on the side of most other celbs. Remember his feud with Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks. She sided big time against Bush.

Exactly. So, a lifelong Dem supports Obama. HUGE shock right there. The guy has never hidden the fact that he’s always been a Democrat. He sings one “boot in your ass” song and Conservatives think he’s on our side now, praising him as the greatest singer of our times, giving him all the hero worship they can muster. Now, the Dem praises Obama and it’s “Shut up, jerk! You’re an awful singer”. As you can tell, I’m not surprised. I saw through the facade right from the beginning.
There is a website that is “giving away” 2 foot corrugated plastic campaign signs that you can design with your own colors, text, etc. Shipping is about 10. I am not posting the link because it might be considered spam....but I imagine there are alot of people on this site that could get quite creative.

He may or may not write his own stuff. Who cares? ANy of these entertainers who think that their opinions on anything other than their particular craft matter are no smarter than the people who listen to what they think. I don’t care who they are. I was in a local songwriter hangout last week and some guy at the bar started on politics (and he was a conservative) but I just tuned him out. I leave my politics outside when it comes to playing or writing songs.
I gave Toby entirely too much credit for having a brain.

I find myself wondering why Obama is having problems selecting a running mate and it dawned on me maybe they are telling him in private “ NO THINKS “

People really pay too much attention to the opinion of entertainers in my opinion. Toby is a good singer, that’s all. He has the right to vote for whoever he wants and it doesn’t make me dislike his music, but nobody should be looking to him or to any other entertainer for political commentary.
I have no problem with him being a Dem or supporting O, as long as I haven’t paid $150.00 for a ticket to get a political lecture.
