Yahoo Pro Football Pick'em Returns to Free Republic. Information you need to know is as follers:
located at Yahoo.com, find fantasy sports and click on Pro Football pick'em --- look for "join a group" and click on that
Group ID# is 29924
password is reagan
it'll aks you for a name ... PLEASE: no R or X rated names, youngsters are invited to play, too. You are allowed to write comments on the msg board , but the same rules apply: no R or X rated comments
we are doing confidence point (you assign a # of points on a game based on how likely you think they are to win -- ex: New England will handily beat the Arizona Cardinals so you put 16 points on the game... perennial heartbreakers such as Cincinatti and Buffalo play each other...either team is likely to lose to the other on any given Sunday (meaning you don't trust either team) so you assign 1 point to that game... and so on
Points will be counted for EACH week so no freebies
picks may be made up to 5 minutes before each game, so being fat, drunk and stupid CAN be a way to get through life ... as long as you have someone to prop you up in front of your computer on game day
have fun and pick away!

Signed up.
Is this against the spread or is it simple win/lose?

It’s never “simple” win/lose. No point spread but it has confidence points system. That’s what the scoring is based on. If 16 games that week, then Confidence Points are 1 through 16. Pick a game, assign it a confidence point, win the game, then you get those points. If you pick wrong then you get no points for that game.

My first time to join one of these leagues.
I expect that it will take less time than a player league.

Spots are filling up fast! If you are thinking about signing up-—do it NOW.
Last year we had 2 leagues- one with no point spread and the confidence points—as this league is, and one league with no confidence points but had the point spread—
Maybe we should do that again-—it is a lot of fun.

Alright, you’ve twisted my arm enough.
I swore that I would never do this Fantasy Football nonsense, but I am weak. It’s an excuse to hang out on FR.
Much like all of the genius bourguoios ruling elite libs who are smarter than the unwashed masses in the proletariet, I will prove that I am smarter than you!
Or more likely if history is any indicator...go down in a blaze of glory.
My team name will be something outrageous. Prepare for the slaughter. :-)
My first pick will be Barack Obama, RB Harvard.

This is a pick em league, a lot easier than fantasy. You just pick the winners —assign confidence points and only get points if that team wins-—
Someone should set up a Fantasy League-we did it last year as well.
Anybody want to start it? I will ping the list if someone sets it up-——

Thanks for joining. It's a play off 'non-results oriented' sports such as kids soccer or baseball. But since there ARE results in our league, well, you can guess the rest. And we'll all soon find out!

No point spread but it has confidence points system.
Just to clarify, even though the points spread is visible we aren't betting against it?
I never done the confidence point thing.
To: scott says
To: BJClinton
When you make your picks, there will be a column to the right for Confidence Points (CP). CP run from 1 up to the # of games that week. Most weeks will be 16 games so CP run from 1 to 16. For each game, take NYG vs Washington Redskins, for example. I am very confident that NYG will beat Washington. I give them a high confidence so I choose 16 points; San Fransisco vs Houston, I am less confident that one team will beat the other so I pick a team, say Houston, and give choose 4 CP and so on. The point is that for each game you pick correctly, you get that number of CP for your week’s score. The weeks of 16 games there is a total possible of 136 points (1+2+3+3+4.....+15+16). Does this clear it up? Let me know if you have any other questions.
