John McCain "Emergency" Contribution Suggestions [vanity]
Letter from John McCain and RNC Victory 2008 (received via US Mail)

Posted on 08/27/2008 1:24:41 PM PDT by rabscuttle385

Received on 27 August 2008 by U.S. Mail. My personal comments are in red.

August 18, 2008

[name/address]

Dear Friend, (I'm not your friend)

In the past you have served as a valued and trusted member of our Party. (only when we need your vote and your donation)

Yet today — only 12 weeks from the most critical elections our nation has faced in decades — the RNC's records indicate that you still remain on the sidelines (who said I was on the sidelines?) and have yet to respond to appeals to stand with us in our fight to prevail over the Obama Democrats.

I am asking you to please get involved NOW.

The Obama Democrats and their left-wing special interest allies have come together in a united front, combining their enormous fundraising arsenal. (I thought campaign finance was already reformed by...YOU!) And the national Democrats led by Chairman Howard Dean are stepping up their cynical campaign of distortions and outright lies, and with the help of organizations like MoveOn.org, are raising staggering amounts of money. (unintended consequences not so good for you, eh?)

The last thing we Republicans (I'm an independent...a maverick...just like YOU!) can afford is to have our hands tied behind our backs due to the fact that the Democrat candidate broke his promise to the American people and refused to accept the presidential campaign spending limit — which means they will have no limit as to what they can raise and spend.

Everything you and I believe in is on the line in this election. That is why I urgently need (this coming from the man who married a wealthy woman and has multiple houses) you to return an Emergency 2008 Membership Contribution of $100, $50, or even $25.

I would not ask you for your help if the circumstances were not so dire. But the alarming truth is, if the Obama Democrats win the White House and retain control of Congress, they will have total control of the federal government. That means you and your family will face a future of higher taxes (carbon credits, anyone? Oh wait, you sponsored them too!), more government spending (which you failed to stop), socialized medicine, a tried-and-failed energy policy (again, you failed to do anything about this), and surrender in Iraq.

From this point in time forward — in order to get out our message of truth (since when do politicians speak truthfully?) to all Americans, register historic numbers of voters, and remain competitive in every state and every district, we must match the Democrats' fundraising efforts. And we cannot do this — we cannot fight back against the Democrats and their liberal allies (yeah, no thanks to your repeated acts of "crossing the aisle") — without your immediate help.

Today I will hope you will stand with us in this struggle by rushing an Emergency (can we say desperate?) Membership Contribution of $100, $50, or even $25 to RNC Victory 2008 as soon as you possibly can. Thank you for your steadfast support of our Party and our country.

Sincerely,

John McCain

P.S. I'm counting (you're not the only maverick around here, Juan!) on your immediate help to strengthen our Republican Party efforts in the critical days and weeks ahead. Please make an Emergency 2008 Membership Contribution of at least $25 and rush it back to RNC Victory 2008 today. Thank you.

A few years ago once the letters from the RNC started getting really rude and accusing me of being a deadbeat for not donating enough, I decided I didn’t care about the Republican party anymore.

They don’t seem to have learned anything from the 2006 experience. Instead of berating me that I have a duty to do whatever their party tells me to, maybe they ought to try to solicit my support by standing up for things that I actually care about.

A few years ago once the letters from the RNC started getting really rude and accusing me of being a deadbeat for not donating enough...

They sent me a survey, designed like a tax form from the IRS, with no option other than to contribute.

I shredded it.

Frankly, I don't even know how they got my school address, since I never gave it to them.

Couldn't have said it any better myself.

Now, should I print them in black and white or in living color (costs extra)?

What about Kay Bailey Hutchinson??

I hate to admit it, but for once I think Bill Clinton got it right. Do you want to vote for someone that you agree with 100% of their positions but has no ability to get things done or someone that you agree with 50% of their positions and ability to achieve? McCain is NOT my first choice but... The choice we have here is no less than McCain vs Marx.

I hope we don’t elect Obama by our own infighting.

I will start to get a little less annoyed by it, and then I will get another letter or I will read a posting like yours, and then it reminds me why I wasn’t supporting the party anymore.

You need a color inkjet printer, we should take up a collection for you from all the funds we’re not sending to the party.

I’m in California, I’ll think about voting for McCain when someone can actually show me that California is within shooting distance of going to McCain.

Cue all the people who will now tell me “but everyone knows that California would never vote for a conservative” :-)

Half of what he complains about, he has helped accomplish. Here’s my advice: Stick up for conservative values. Maybe then you’ll get actual support from conservatives. And btw, conservatives are the base of the Republican Party. Just a little fyi McCain.

“I hope we don’t elect Obama by our own infighting.”

I'm not *fighting* anyone (and very few seem to have opposite opinions)

McCain is insisting on Amnesty. I'm insisting on not voting for a presidential candidate in 2008. (although not my only reasons)

He thinks he can win without my support. So be it.

Simply as that. A down-ticket voting I go.

Send him a lottery ticket with a note telling him that any win over $50 you get half...........

That way you only wasted $1 and yet gave the RNC the "Chance of a lifetime"...........

Ironic you mentioned clinton, the last time republicans split and some went for perot we got stuck with 8 years of clinton, some say they will vote McCain as the lesser evil I will vote for McCain for the greater good.
especially with the way so many recent supreme court decisions have gone 5-4

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/06/25/supremecourt/main4207513.shtml

The court’s 5-4 decision struck down a Louisiana law that allows capital punishment for people convicted of raping children under 12.

http://www.bizjournals.com/washington/stories/2008/06/23/daily56.html?jst=b_ln_hl

The court’s 5-4 ruling says Americans have the right to own guns for self-defense and hunting.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A62584-2005Mar1.html

The Supreme Court abolished capital punishment for juvenile offenders yesterday, ruling 5 to 4 that it is unconstitutional to sentence anyone to death for a crime he or she committed while younger than 18.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/law/07/02/scotus.review/index.html

By a 5-4 margin, it ruled that school choice plans in Louisville, Kentucky, and Seattle, Washington, aimed at maintaining classroom diversity were unconstitutional

Of the 72 cases decided since October, fully a third were decided by 5-4 votes.

It was a good year for the conservative bloc led by Chief Justice John Roberts. In 13 of the 24 cases decided by a single vote.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bush_v._Gore

Bush v. Gore held that the Florida Supreme Court’s method for recounting ballots was a violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. By a 5-4 vote, the Court held that no alternative method could be established within the time limits set by the State of Florida. Three of the concurring justices also asserted that the Florida Supreme Court had violated Article II, § 1, cl. 2 of the Constitution, by misinterpreting Florida election law that had been enacted by the Florida Legislature.

http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9F0CE4D91F39F936A15755C0A9629C8B63

The Supreme Court invalidated the criminal sentencing system of the State of Washington on Thursday in a decision that also cast doubt on whether the 20-year-old federal sentencing guidelines can survive a constitutional challenge.

Bitterly split in a 5-to-4 decision that cut across the court’s usual ideological lines, the justices continued a profound five-year-long debate over the respective roles of judges and juries in criminal sentencing.

McCain: Border fence first, then reform

MEXICO CITY - John McCain warned Mexicans that more border walls are needed before he attempts to overhaul U.S. immigration laws again, an unpopular position in a country he visited in hopes of boosting his standing with Hispanics at home.

“I believe we must have comprehensive immigration reform. The American people want our borders secured first,” McCain said during a news conference in Mexico City.

“That will require some walls. It will require virtual fences. It will require high-technology equipment. We must secure our borders, and then we will address the issue of comprehensive immigration reform.”
