Lunchtime? I just finished my second cup of coffee, and a breakfast of buttermilk/cornmeal pancakes with hickory smoked bacon. Can’t even think of lunch, yet. (We ‘left coasters’ are always behind!) LOL

Stop it now, I’m in a fightin’ mode! They look wonderful....someone did a wonderful job on those! I will never catch up on my pings, etc.

Having trouble getting around on FR. I may have to come back later. Had a doctor’s appt. this morning plus my son ran by to put a new bracket up for my flag. Sept. 11 is coming. I fly my flag year around but the bracket needed to be replaced~

"Having trouble getting around on FR." Me, too, JC. I tried to post some verse this morning with a picture, and "Spell" would not work. So, I gave it up. (It appears to be working now, so I'll try again.)

Autumn Leaves

The falling leaves drift by my window
The falling leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sunburned hands I used to hold

Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter's song
But I miss you most of all, my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

(Instrumental for 1 minute)

Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter's song
But I miss you most of all, my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

I miss you most of all, my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall.

Billie, that is so lovely and I was wondering who would post September song first. I love that song. Willie does great on it....romantic, isn’t it?

Thank you Billie, for being our Hostess today. I’m still playing Willie’s September Song. I have been busy too. Went to son’s yesterday evening for cookout and had a dr’s appt this morning. I must get to a few chores but will check back later. Thanks again!

Thank you, JC. Most yorkies are just happy to be loved and fed. They don’t ask for much more. But, since I was bound and determined to ‘get’ post #100, I thought it was appropriate. LOL!

(Elke) Sommer Leaves as Autumn draws near.

Colors burst in wild explosions
Fiery, flaming shades of fall
All in accord with my pounding heart
Behold the autumn-weaver
In bronze and yellow dying
Colors unfold into dreams
In hordes of a thousand and one
The bleeding
Unwearing their masks to the last notes of summer
Their flutes and horns in nightly swarming
Colors burst within
Spare me those unending fires
Bestowed upon the flaming shades of fall.

Here is a video I came accross called "Autumn". It is a stunning clip, with colorful autumn slides and almost haunting music, that I could play forever:

A Blade of Grass

Said a blade of grass to an autumn leaf, “You make such a noise falling! You scatter all my winter dreams.”

Said the leaf indignant, “Low-born and low-dwelling! Songless, peevish thing! You live not in the upper air and you cannot tell the sound of singing.”

Then the autumn leaf lay down upon the earth and slept. And when spring came she waked again — and she was a blade of grass.

And when it was autumn and her winter sleep was upon her, and above her through all the air the leaves were falling, she muttered to herself, “O these autumn leaves! They make such a noise! They scatter all my winter dreams.”

“Left Coasters” are all going to LAX to watch American Airlines make an emergency landing with a blown tire - 136 souls on board. Plane is circling between airport and Catalina Islands, dumping fuel. (Coverage on FNC)

Prayers for all involved.

Ahem! Not to pressure either of you, but...... LOL

Seriously, Lori told me she had Illinois in her sights to complete maybe by the end of September?

Dave said he should get Washington written up sometime soon. They just got back from there a couple of weeks ago, and he needs to get his thinking cap on how to 'write' his part.

I know. It's been this way off and on for several days. I've had to repost several comments, as well as mail, at least two or three times. I hit "post" and it says "done", giving me a blank screen instead of taking me back to the thread, or telling me that my mail has been sent.

Fortunately, I've learned to hit the back arrow and retrieve the message, open another window and see if my post went through or not before 'sending' it again.

I am going to try, but I can't promise. I have a busy schedule in September and then a family memorial get-together at Lake Tahoe for my mom in October that is going to be requiring my attention for a few weeks before hand. I will see what I can do. If not the end of September, it will be the end of October. :-)

Waving at my lil' sistah, Aqua! I've missed you!

Can't. Handle. This. :( This thread is slow enough for me with all the heavy graphics when FR is running smoothly. It's not worth the frustration.

Maybe later this evening it will be better.

Just catching up with today's thread!!

WOW OESY!!!!! I have the Original LP of Victory At Sea. Just listening to the theme has brought tears to my eyes.. In the 50's-60's there was such a air of Patriotism... Thanks for sharing.... Polly

FR seems to be doing better right now so I'm going to beginning of this September thread to answer pings I didn't get to yesterday, so thank you, jaycee, I am so glad you like the poem and the opening graphic. Thank you, Amy, for choosing this one to start the new month. I loved the poem, too, and whoever took the photograph of the little girls had a winner - even before all the window dressing. :)
