Hey Freepers, One of my friends (who is a hardcore lib) wrote me an email this morning asking my husband and I to join her for the VP debate at her house. Her wording was that she wanted to watch Sarah "screw up." We have never discussed politics before, and I suppose she just assumed that we were liberals. Well, I am trying to devise a funny response by basically saying I'm "coming out of the closet" but I don't know what else to say. I think she is a nice woman, but I really want to set the record straight without being too serious. I would like to be somewhat sarcastic. Can you guys give me some ideas? I would appreciate it. Oh by the way, I know you guys have been getting pissed about people posting "Vanity" but I knew you guys would give the best advice. Thanks

... sigh ...
Accept there offer but don’t say anything. Then, when you are watching the debate, talk about how great Governor Palin is doing and how you REALLY like her. That will be much more fun.
Get in her face!!!!!!!!!!
It’s the Obama marching orders...
Actually, I was thinking that every time Palin nails Biden, you jump off the couch and do one of those Tiger Woods “fist pump” deals.
NPG: No possible gain.
Yet you did it anyway. And signed up today, just for this?
I'm sure JimRob loves you wasting his bandwidth.

There are people who are surrounded by bigots
and know it is wrong, but are afraid to be vocal against it.
These people are going to pull the lever for Obama
and they are not being polled.
angee_is_mad, DUmmy
throw in how much you LOVE paying taxes, and how those poor welfare people deserve to stay home all day and watch TV and get paid for it.
See how long it takes to catch on.
Go over; bring exlax brownies.
:-)
or don’t.
I wouldn’t go....
An oblique, tactful response might be to simply say,
“Sorry but we heard you had fleas in your carpet.”
Sounds like it would be an uncomfortable evening, at best. Why not decline and say you have made other plans. (You have, stay home and watch it without her editorial comment.) Or, if you are feeling feisty, tell her you have to decline her kind invitation because you are going to be hunting moose with your shotgun.
Ask her what magazines or book to bring along so you can read along with whatever the source is that Joe (the Chia Pet Head) Biden has plagiarized for “his” words.
Hmm. That’s a tough one. Can you just say something short like ... “actually, I support the McCain/Palin ticket, and expect she’ll do just fine. Invitation still open?
:))
That’s short, to the point w/o being “militant” about it, and puts the onus back on her.
Dear friend, Like Joe Biden, I have been watching Vice Presidential debates on TV since Teddy Roosevelt ran for VP in 1900. Joe and I see this as the most important Vice Presidential debate since LBJ ran on Harry Truman’s ticket in 1984. But I feel like I should stay at home with my family, because we’re voting for Rutherford B. Hayes.
You log on today to post this?
I smell ozone!
Your vanity is as worthwile or more than all these multiple postings of Freepers who don’t check to see if something’s already up.
I’d feign ignorance and reply, “Me too; Joe Biden’s middle name is, Screw up.”
He even had to drop out of a presidential bid for plagiarism while he was in law school.
give her some other examples but pretend to be clueless. She’ll not be able to take offense.
Good luck! Let us know how it goes.
YES EVERYONE...I JOINED TODAY!! I GUESS I’M COMING OUT TO YOU TOO! geez...
Quickly order and overnight some PUMA t-shirts.
Let her know that you are having a Palin party at your house and she is welcome to come over...
Ask her how she feels about bearing false witness and trying for decades to ruin an innocent man’s life.

Sen. Joseph Biden - Bearing false witness...
http://towncriernews.blogspot.com/search?q=Biden
In 1972 Sen. Joseph Biden, the Democrat nominee for vice President, lost his wife and young daughter in a car accident. Losing your family in a auto accident is a gut wrenching tragedy, to be sure. No one underestimates that and no ever blamed Mrs. Biden for the accident.
Right up there with despicable things one human can do to another, is falsely accusing the innocent of a crime. Bearing false witness is even in the 10 commandments, but Mr. Bidens feigned Catholicism doesnt let that stop him.
Last night CBS Inside Addition reports, In a striking moment in December 2007, he opened his heart to University of Iowa students. “Let me tell you a little story. My wife and three kids were Christmas shopping for a Christmas tree, a tractor trailer, a guy who allegedly, and I never pursued it, drank his lunch instead of eating his lunch, broadsided my family, killed my wife instantly, killed my daughter instantly, and hospitalized my two sons.”
Out on the stump recently and for years, Biden has repeated this charge. Lately, he has tried to soften it with the thought that he doesnt know if the semi truck driver was drunk...., I never pursued it. He didnt follow the case about the death of his wife and child? Give me a break.
The court certainly did. The driver was never charged and was cleared of any wrong doing. Mrs. Biden, driving a station wagon full of kids and a Christmas tree pulled into the trucks path. The driver, also a victim, had not been drinking and for the years before his death his reputation suffered with the false charge that Biden put out in the public for sympathy and political gain.
He will use his dead family and an innocent fellow American for his own personal profit. Dont be surprised when he uses the rest of us.

Most of my friends are hard core Democrats. They know where I stand in politics. They would never invite me to their house to make fun of a candidate I support. You, perhaps, should make your friends aware of your political views.
My $0.02 is to keep the moral high ground. Politely respond that you are a conservative, and offer to lend a book or two if she is interested in learning about other viewpoints.
Your vanity is as worthwile or more than all these multiple postings of Freepers who don’t check to see if something’s already up.

On the assumption that you are serious, and not a troll, if you care about your friendship at all you should come up with some excuse why you cannot attend.
You might want to tell them something like “Sorry, we have to stay home and wash the floormats from our car” if you value their friendship.
Otherwise you could just tell them something like, “I’d rather not see Joe Biden again. After that night that he came over to our house in drag for our Halloween party and got so drunk he made romantic advances towards our dog we really don’t want to see him again.”
...we heard you had fleas in your carpet ...
:::picking self up off the floor from laughing way too hard:::
ER, and Freepers who double-post. Sorry, Guys.
Waste of time, she’s looking for a whipping boy (girl). You will be outnumbered, she’ll have about 20-30 lined up to slap you.
That sounds great!! I did want to mention something about guns in there...
Bunny. Pancake. Head.
You should just tell your friend you'd rather stay home and watch Sarah kick Biden's ass." Or, that you'd rather stay home, because you prefer not to snicker in polite company when Joe produces a gaffe.
First of all, stop being ashamed of your political views. If you know enough about her to know she’s a “hardcore lib” but she doesn’t yet know that you are a conservative, I doubt you’re ready for an evening she plans to dedicate to trashing Sarah Palin. Stay home.
Exlax brownies....LMAO!
thanks for the belly laugh.
I would not take the sarcastic route. I would try to be polite, but tell the truth.
Id say something like:
Thanks for the invitation, but that doesnt sound like anything Id enjoy. I like Sarah Palin and intend to vote for McCain and her. I respect her and her public service and think she is a great example of womanhood. Sorry if this surprises you. I hope you enjoy your get-together, and I hope our differing views on politics dont affect our friendship.
Excuse the cynics here...the working assumption on newbies who post vanities is that they are trolls...it is also true 90% of the time...
It does somewhat concern me, however, that the way you live your life and conduct yourself doesn't allow folks to know that you are a conservative. Unless, of course, you are not.
As movie director David Zucker says," When you meet, you give each other a secret look--'Are you a Republican too?' It's the new gay."
Notice that I wrote “had”, so MW is not coming right out and saying they won’t come because these lefties actually “have” fleas, and they don’t want fleas.
It suggests a coy, playful reticence on the noobs’ part: that their hosts have treated for fleas and are now flea-free, and yet they remain shy, somewhat hesitant . . . suggesting something in the future possibly, after Sarah is VP so they can come over and say `Boo-yah! over-and-over.
(Head lice? That might be even better: `We heard your children might have head lice.’?)
Be careful of overzealous Obamanites. I for one would avoid, because inevitably when you try to voice your conservative principals you will just be shouted down. They don’t care for discussion or reason, just emotion and platitudes will suffice.
No, I am a conservative...long story short, my husband and I are rock climbers. As you can imagine, most of these people are granolas and far lefties. The last time politics came up, I was basically assaulted and couldn’t get a word in edge-wise. Honestly, I’m not a good debater because I get so worked up when I need to just stay calm...Anyway, I’ve tried to avoid political conversations, as I’ve tried to avoid one with this woman, but now something has to be said. thank you for your advice.
Welcome to FR!
"Thanks, I'd like that but I've organized a McCain/Palin debate party here. I'm sorry you won't be coming. Maybe next time when she's running for president."

(I'm a blast at family get-togethers with my wife's Long Island-liberal family!!! - so in the words of Mel Brooks, they know to "get off of the politics"!)
