Vanity: I bought my Glock 19 today, and I simply wanted to say thank you!

I know I posted a thread a few days ago about a handgun (below), and my interest in a Glock 19, and I sought your thoughts and comments.

Knowing I tried it before I bought it!

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2103527/posts

Well I did my research and I went and bought the G19! That's a freakin' awesome handgun!

I took my Dad and he fired it too! And he was amazed by it (He owns a 1911 and I know that's no comparison, I know that).

I just wanted to say thanks for all of your comments! I tried a Sig and some others, but I'm sticking with what I bought! That's a freakin' awesome handgun!

So thank you all! Now I need to get me a great rifle!

Does anyone have any thoughts on Armalite (AR-10)or S&W M&P?

What is the best type of shop to buy 9mm rounds

WalMart, believe it or not. $19.97 for 100 rounds of Winchester FMJ target ammo. 50 round JHP self-defense packs are obviously more, but still quite reasonable by today's standards.

My Brother has the G26 and he loves it! I needed somethig to better fit my hand, and the G19 does just that!

That is an awesome gun!

My Brother is jealous and now wants to come have some fun!

I joined the local gun club and shooting range, and training!

Should be fun!

Excellent choice, to both you and the fella who started this thread. I don’t have a Glock but I do have 2 Ruger revolvers and a number of other guns.

Enjoy your liberty!

I know this is a no-brainer...or should be....but PLEASE make sure your fiance has ear protection. I know someone who didn't use it, and his wife was always afraid to shoot.

Till I brought along some extra ears for her.

(No, it wasn't out here in the indoor range for those of you reading this and gasping and rolling your eyes and all that....)

Let me know how she did, OK? She'll probably have the time of her life!!!! :) :)

Gun Shop - Totally! They know what they are talking about!

A Pawn Shop - You don’t know what’s happened to that gun before you get it!

Just my opinion! For what it’s worth!

Go ye therefore and purchase high-capacity magazines, for they may not always be obtainable.

Also don’t scrimp on leather (holsters).

I don’t think an amplifier will provide much in the way of self-defense though.

Depends upon what you put through it and how loud it's cranked up.

I love my Glock. I can’t hardly hold the Sig steady - too heavy for me.

“What is the best type of shop to buy 9mm rounds? Pawn shop?
gun shop?”

Mailorder from a catalog. Good prices and shipped immediately to your door. Some places even throw in freebies.

FMJ = Full Metal Jacket (more suitable for target rounds)
JHP = Jacketed Hollow Point (used for self-defense).

FMJ = Full Metal Jacket

JHP = Jacketed Hollow Points.

RTFM on your firearm, and pay attention to what they say is appropriate ammunition for your weapon.

For example, some 9mm ammunition is called “+P”, which means they are higher pressure rounds than the standard 9mm round.

You’re getting a little extra punch, which, if you’re carrying a nine for self-protection is a Good Thing— but BE FOREWARNED: DO NOT USE +P in a nine unless your firearm is rated for it.

You could end up with a collection of high velocity metal fragments instead of a firearm, and some of said fragments would be heading in your direction.

Oh, do not use reloads in a Glock.

It’ll void your warranty.
