RIPLEY, Tenn. - A former West Tennessee teacher accused of having sex with a student has been convicted of child abuse.
Amy Elder, a 28-year-old former teacher and softball coach at Ripley High School, was accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl.
She went to trial charged with sexual battery and statutory rape by an authority figure but was convicted Wednesday night in Ripley on lesser charges of child abuse.
Elder testified in her own defense and denied having sexual contact with the teenager.

Where were all these teachers when I was growing up?!
It looks like you were lucky!
Was it your dream in high school to be accosted by an extremely ungly adult member of your own sex?
Because that's what happened in this case.
..in the foyer with a bat?
“without sexual contact”
Help me out here, freepers. What does that mean? What kind of sexual relations could she have had without sexual contact?
It’s the same thing as Bubba saying “I did not have sexual relations with that girl.”
You know what is is, and that means the teacher lied.
It means she is an 0bama supporter.
Looks like that new anchor person on MSNBC.
“Without sexual contact.”
Both of the students she abused were female, so at least one ingredient for normal sex was missing.

I went to a high school with 1700 students. Looking in my yearbook, I can count the number of teachers I would’ve wanted to hit on one hand and still have fingers left over :shudder:
I just found out recently that my 7th grade teacher had an affair with one of my classmates twenty-three years ago. So chances are you knew a teacher like that too.
I doubt it, I went to a private christian school and just like richard gere in family guy, they were all hiding eggs somewhere.
I went to Catholic school. Your point is?
