" ... Historians may rate Obama the second best president ever. " GAG!!
The Buffalo News (Letter to the Editor) ^ | November 28, 2008 | Thomas Santa Lucia

Posted on 11/28/2008 7:26:09 AM PST by conservativeinbflo.

Charity Vogel’s article on Gary Ecelbarger’s book on Lincoln’s 16-month period before his 1860 election was interesting. He wrote about Lincoln’s “meteoric rise” and contends Barack Obama’s rise was far less. I respectfully disagree.

Lincoln lost “two senatorial races,” says Ecelbarger, but does not point out they were not popular vote elections. Nor does he advise that the 17th Amendment was still years away. Despite those losses, maintains Ecelbarger, because of Lincoln’s “great middle ground message” he secured the Republican nomination.

Now, look at Obama. When he lost Super Tuesday to a prominent senator, it seemed like he couldn’t possibly secure the Democratic Party nomination. But national election rules regrading proportionate division of delegates and, more importantly, rules and strategy regarding caucus delegates, were unknown or ignored by his competitors. Who could believe that the unknown first-term senator, also from Illinois, knew and practiced election law rules so superbly? Obama’s campaign brilliance was astounding; his securing the nomination was far superior to Lincoln’s.

One hundred fifty years from now, historians may rate Obama the second best president ever. Lincoln is likely to always be number one. Not even Lincoln, however, has had a more “meteoric rise” than the 44th president-elect. Indeed, it is “unprecedented.”

I just had to share this with my fellow FReepers. That this idiot is already making claims that Obama will be the "second best president ever" when he HASN'T EVEN TAKEN OFFICE exemplifies how out of touch the Obamabots truly are. That's a pretty lofty statement, with absolutely ZILCH to back it up.

It’s also a clear message of what we can expect from his followers/goons. I look forward to rubbing this in the face of the co-worker who scoffed when I said Obama’s supporters wouldn’t be friendly to his critics.

I respectfully disagree.

I'm always leery whenever I see these words, because they are usually followed by a litany of BS. Glad to see that rule still applies...

It's a statement of religious faith. No evidence needed. These people have no place in a democratic society. They belong in some backwater dictatorship where they can worship their "Dear Leader" in peace, poverty and ignorance.

” Who could believe that the unknown first-term senator, also from Illinois, knew and practiced election law rules so superbly?”

Nobody would have known that if America was still Lincoln’s country.

Now, we don’t know what it is... Certainly a gift given to an irresponsible generation of losers.

Probably not. I've run into a lot of college "educated" liberals who assume he was a democrat and that's good enough for them.

First Of All, Obama is NOT BLACK...He’s a Mulatto...He was not even raised as an American...for many, many years. I believe in the end, maybe 100 years hence, he will be called “The False President”.

Well, journalists have already anointed His Hopefulness so. When they write the books twenty years from now that will get them designated as “historians” in the public eye, I expect that’s just what will happen. ;)

Give it time buddy. In two years you are going to be driving a car with the bumper sticker: "Don't Blame Me! I vote McCain/Palin!"

I can make predictions too. I’m betting mine is closer to the mark.

In two years, the majority of Americans will deny they ever voted for Obama.

“meteoric rise”

What goes up, always comes down. The image I have of meteors is always that of burning up as they fall.

I always get a chuckle at those uninformed folks who think Lincoln was the greatest president ever. Well, may be was if seen through the eyes of a fascist. Lincoln was a tyrant who ran roughshod over the Constitution, jailed his critics, shut down newspapers that did not agree with him and arrested their publishers and editors, ordered the arrest of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court because said justice issued an opinion contrary to Lincoln’s desires, instituted the country’s first income tax, and in general was a fascist’s dream and a free man’s nightmare.

No. Washington, number one. Lincoln, number two. Nobody gets higher than three. Nobody.
