My guess is that it was mailed directly from UAW headquarters in Detroit. :)
Charity with the expectation of a reward is not charity.
Corporate charity falls under their PR budget. They only give money, because they believe it will garner them some goodwill from the public (that will result in a competitive advantage.) McDonalds doesn’t run Ronald McDonald Houses because they are good guys, but because it helps them sell hamburgers (why do you think they spend money to run advertisements bragging about the RMH?)
This is not a reason to bail out the Detroit auto companies, and it doesn’t mean the other auto companies are bad guys. It simply means the other companies, instead of spending their stockholder’s money on PR, sent the money back to their stockholders (who were free to donate it to whatever charity they wanted if they so chose to do so.)

Bump, thanks for correcting the list. It is interesting to see that BMW and Toyota gave as much, if not more, than GM and Ford.
The meat is in the thread, not the article.
Your replies insinuates motive and intent yet this is the first time I heard of what any of the big three did for 9/11
Dec 2008.
So it took a long time for the public to become aware of what the big 3 did.
I also see that other foreign auto manufactures who benefited from this great nation showed no graditute to the hand that feeds them.
You seem to be more in tune with what’s wrong with America Party!
