Winona Ryder 'lost' $125K bracelet & ring borrowed from Bulgari
Examiner.com ^ | November 30 | Liz Barrett

Winona Ryder — who was convicted of shoplifting more than $5000 worth of clothing and accessories from Beverly Hills' Saks Fifth Avenue in 2002 — is in the middle of yet another accessories crisis.

Winona rocked a Bulgari diamond bracelet and ring worth more than $125,000 at the Marie Claire awards in Madrid last week. The problem is, the jewels were on loan — and Winona's set was not returned, according to Voici, a French celebrity gossip magazine.

Winona said she put the jewelry in an envelope and handed it to the front desk at the hotel before she flew back to Los Angeles, but the hotel surveillance cameras do not show any sign of her doing that.

What’s that they say about “karma”? Didn’t her sentence for shoplifting get suspended, or didn’t she get lightly punished for that?

Maybe she really is a professional klepper.

Lost? I think not. Ask Barack, maybe he knows the fence.

Sometimes I’d like to ‘lose’ something that expensive, but then I realized they didn’t look as great as I thought they should.

This girl (young woman) has a problem.
If she's not a Kleptomaniac I don't know who is. She fits the classic definition to a T:
Kleptomaniac: A person who has kleptomania.
Kleptomania: An obsessive impulse to steal regardless of economic need.
She's sick and needs to be in a hospital, not a jail (imo).

When I borrow something and lose it, I pay for it.

Winona doesn't believe she should have to pay for her irresponsibility?

Winona, what ever are we going to do with you? I think the only solution is a good spanking administered by a doughy, middle-aged freeper.

I have liked some of her film performances - but her career is in oblivion now and this kinda $hit isn't helping.

How very kind and gracious of her to try to pin her crime on the innocent hotel employees. Now there’s a lefty you gotta love.

"Doughy" and "middle-aged" aptly describes Winona these days. I'm surprised to read she still gets invited to the big parties. I've figured she's entered the "straight to video" chapter in her career.

Surely she would have gotten a receipt for the jewels. If so, she can prove that she turned them in. Otherwise, she’s either a fool, or a thief.

Perhaps both.

Actually Barack had it melted down and remade into his wife’s new $30,000 ring!

Kleptomania is not a crime. It is an alternative lifestyle and they should not be treated as criminals. Just ask the pro-homosexual movement. Klepto rights now!

They can’t help it, they were born that way.

Winona is toast. She’s going to have hard time borrowing any more bling, plus how many of the celebrity circuit hotels are going to be willing to comp suites to some nutcase who tries to pin their employees with grand theft?

She is very pretty, no doubt. But there was a time that she was so dazzlingly beautiful that she could succeed even though she is a no-talent hack. She's not quite that pretty anymore.

I don't understand the placement of that tattoo on her left arm. Why would you want to focus anyone's attention there? And I figured I'd add the photo for the guilty/not guilty crowd.

Plus I think it shows the jewelry in question.

In the end, they loaned her the jewelry for publicity and they have it now.

When handing over anything worth over 100K, I usually ask for some kind of receipt.

Always insist on a signed receipt showing the return items on loan. If there is no evidentiary trail, you still have them. It's not like you're returning a rental DVD.

ALWAYS ask for a receipt... that is of course she actually handed the envelope containing the booty to the front desk clerk.
