Alabama coach Nick Saban responded angrily to today's news that Tommy Tuberville is out at Auburn after 10 years.
Tuberville makes four head coaches to lose to Saban this season and not retain their jobs, joining Clemson's Tommy Bowden, Tennessee's Phillip Fulmer and Mississippi State's Sylvester Croom.
Here was Saban's unprompted statement ...
"There have been several coaches that have been let go in our league that have a pretty good body of work behind them. They've been really good coaches. They've been really good for the game. They've been good for a lot of players, and they've had very, very good programs. I've talked about Phillip. I've never really ever talked about Sly - Sylvester - and Tommy (Tuberville). Those guys are really good coaches. They've done a good job for a long time. They've got a tremendous body of work.
"I really question some of the judgment relative to how it is for our game that people who have those kind of relationships and have done that kind of job and affected so many people in a positive way - and have had a reasonable amount of success relative to their circumstances - would not be given more respect and consideration than what these guys have been.

Then seems to me you'd be THRILLED that he found the NFL so discusting that he couldn't get out quick enough, lol. I'm sorry, I can't feel sorry for the Dolphins or any NFL team. Bunch of overpaid primadonnas, IMHO.. no heart for the game, only money.
Take a chill pill.. they work great on SDS (Saban Derangement Syndrome). Or go build a 'pine box' to take your mind off Saban. lol

I haven't really watched much of any of the FL games, but know FL has one heck of a team this year. I'm anxious to see if Alabama can rise to the occasion of playing the team that, apparently, is the best football team to EVER take the field (according to the media hype at least) lol. And I'm looking forward to watching Tebow, who I've heard is not only an outstanding QB, but also a good kid who is better than the media hype surrounding him.
OT: I've heard Spurrier's name thrown about in regard to the Auburn HC position. Do you think he'd be a good fit on the plains?
Spurrier is a good motivator of kids. He had a strong reputation at UF. He, like Saban, had problems leading and motivating pros at the NFL level. I don’t know his situation at SC but I would be surprised if he takes another job right now. He’s been around a long time and I don’t see him bouncing around but what do I know? College football head coaches make such big money and have a lot of power so who is to say if they offer him a bankful of money.
By the way, I do not hold the Saban situation against the Crimson Tide. The boosters did what they thought they had to do. His statements about Tuberville seem quite disingenuous given his unseating of Mike Shula after Shula was ousted just a year after a very successful season. Down here, Don Shula is like a national monument. Saban did a double-whammy by dissing Shula’s team and by unseating Shula’s son. The way Saban handled it was disgraceful, literally running off in the dark of night and not even facing his team after saying the rumors of leaving weren’t true. He is a very talented college coach and his team deserves their #1 ranking.
In my view, this upcoming game IS the National Championship
game. We will see!
I have to be honest and say I like Spurrier alot more now than I did back when he was at FL..and even then I recognized that he is a good coach. At the time we had a friend who was a rabid Gator's fan... I couldn't even be in the same room with her and my Husband! lol I would like to see someone of his caliber at Auburn. A rivarly is no fun it's too one sided, IMHO.
May the best team win on Saturday!! I'm hoping for a good, clean, smash-mouth, old timey, play all out game, without injuries on either side! Regardless the outcome, this has been one crazy season so far!

Tuberville left of his own accord. The AD and the president tried to talk him into staying.
It was just time to move on. Plus, in my mind, Coach T has his sites set on another up and coming opening.
