1) It would be inappropriate to celebrate the gift of salvation at the time Christ’s death with gift giving, feasting and merry-making, so we do it Dec. 25th. Easter is a solemn victory memorial.
2) Dec 25 was chosen not because that was the actual birthdate, but because it was the timeframe when He was visited by the Magi and received the gifts. We exchange gifts to recognize this event and the greater gift of Emmanuel (God with us) that the Christ was now dwelling among men for a period of time. Christmas is a celebration that we are together, a family. It may represent the day that Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit as some Messianic Jews believe, the actual birth taking place during the Feast of Tabernacles 40 weeks later.
3) God likes parties which is why He established feast days for the Jews.
What about ‘Sandy Claws?’
Christmas is soooo fun.
Celebrating the birth of Christ and thanking God for his gift to mankind is true joy.
A few presents thrown in, a Christmas tree, and a nice meal are even better.

And to this day some of us are not Puritans nor do we agree with them on this subject. My roots are English. My ancestors settled in MD and VA on land given them by Charles II as compensation for the attrocities they suffered, such as beheadings, under the Protectorate of your esteemed Puritans.
I come from a long line of mince tart eaters and intend to continue to do so in joy and love for my Lord who was born and died to set me free. As for celebrating Good Friday and Easter, you sure make sweeping judgements. Lighten up and have a mince tart.
I try to avoid it because I think it brings negativity into my life and may even empower the “hated” thing/person, etc.
But surely you dislike many ideals, many groups, many lines of thought?
For instance...I hate the MSM/DBM...I think they are dangerous...and I truly hate them.
They could care less that I hate them......
FWIW-
I stopped celebrating Christmas about five years ago because of my Christian convictions, but I don’t go out of my way to criticize Christians who see Christmas as a time for giving. Stop looking at the materialism, and see the charities that are everywhere, and see Christians who open up their hearts and pocketbooks to those in need. Get into the spirit of giving. Take advantage of Christmas to give “good gifts” to folks who need your help. Who knows, you might take the kindness you can learn from Christmas charities, and practice it all year.
Yes, I do. In fact, I say it out loud but if my daughter is within hearing range, she corrects me and I appreciate it. My mental health depends on my ability to shut out those things that set me off. And I’m working on it.

Socialism is a queer economic system.. promising gifts.. from a "fat cat".. i.e. rich person..
Given the way things are going in our culture and the world in general, Christians had better hang on for dear life to whatever holidays and traditions we have, even if they are Christianized pagan festivals. We could do a better job of keeping the birth of Jesus Christ as the focus of Christmas, as opposed to visits from Santa Claus and his reindeer.
