“Next time you are at your local Wal-Mart go to the bakery area ask them if they have any empty 5 gal and 2 gal. plastic pails.”

Thanks for that advice. I was befuddled the other day because is dawned on me that Costco sells big bags of flour and rice, but did not sell big food storage containers. LOL what is up with that. They could make a killing selling 5 gal pails if there product people rub two brain cells together.

I always buy detergent in yellow 5 gallon plastic pails with a handle, and at any grocery store.

I’ve been doing this for years. Also been able to produce enough gas to go off the grid.

Obviously you're one of those lucky people who doesn't live on the beach.

Don’t forget the grain mill too. The bulk grains need to be ground before you can use them and thats labor intensive. Their are recipes and instructions on some of the sites.

I don’t see myself buying that much food that shelf stable for 20 years. My wife and I prefer to buy pretty much what we normally buy just more of it. Then replace what you use.

This doesn’t work for all food but seems more reasonable to me.

Several people have mentioned Honeyville Grain. I’ve also ordered a few things from them and have been very satisfied with the products and service.

One very important thing about Honeyville, they ship your entire order, regardless of size, anywhere in the US for $4.95. That’s critical because some other online vendors can look very good until you see their shipping charges, which can really increase the cost of the products you order.
