We haven’t been through El Paso for 5 or 6 years, but we always used to stop at a Mexican restaurant called, Julio’s. It is on the far east side of El Paso, just off I-10. We really enjoyed the food there.

Thanks, I’ll have to remember that next time we’re up there. It’s been about 3 years since we last spent any time there.

Our problem while we were there was it seemed all the Restaurants were either really pricey or fast food and burrito shacks- we ate one pricey meal at a steak house there and weren’t impressed- we liked the Denny’s for breakfast and ate dinner there once and it was good too. Funny thing is we are not a fan of Denny’s normally. We also found a great Mexican restaurant that was also in Ruidoso Downs and right next to a motel- it looks terrible on the outside, but was recommended to us by a local- it is nice inside and has terrific food but I can’t remember the name of it.

The “State Line” for BBQ. Boarder of El Paso and New Mexico.
Also recomend “Jaguars” for after dinner.

About 3 years ago we spent a month there (hubby and I both graduated from HS there and his family owned a ranch in Alto, so he grew up there). We had to get things in order after both his parents passed away.
Anyway, one thing I remember was the dearth of restaurants, good ones. I wish we had known about the Denny’s (if it was there then). We went up to Capitan and ate at El Paisanos several times (it was a family favorite) and at Kokopeli (but it’s a private club) and Schlotzky’s in town. But honestly, I was very disappointed in the food selection.
