CMI ^ | January 8, 2009 | Carl Wieland

...Sin is redefined, in short, to suit today’s hyperenvironmentalistic religion. Reeves even comes across as a younger, slimmer, version of Al Gore—right down to the dark suits and the wooden demeanour.

One and a half stars. Saw it on the net. Cloverfield was 100 times better.

May I ask why this one was banished to “General/Chat”? Is there a new directive to discriminate against one of the main prongs of the Reagan Coalition? Just curious.

I have seen the ads on TV and it looks like ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ meets ‘Matrix’ dude.

It is more like “An Inconvenient Truth” meets “Plan Nine from Outer Space”.

IMHO "Plan 9 from Outer Space" was a much better film.

The part that I wish Gore had reprised is the scene where the cop is using the tip of his gun barrel to scratch his head and move his service cap!

Gore coulda done that and for effect "pull the trigger"!

The script for Plan Nine does have greater depth than this hackneyed remake.

Rent ‘Journey to the center of the earth” and watch that with the kids instead.

It’s already out.
I had a few nits to pick with it. Such as the kid having absolutely NO respect for his stepmother, who was the only family he had left.

I like sci-fi movies, especially movies from the '50s. I liked the original movie, great acting and period special effects. And the iconic scene when Patricia Neal says "Klaatu barada nikto."

Reeves is okay in something like "Matrix." But he's no Patricia Neal. Or even a Michael Rennie.

It was incredibly dumb.
