It's 6 degrees here Toby and getting colder the next few days. We're talking the coldest in 15 years. I heard possibly -25; we'll see about that.
I am feeling better. I have been studiously avoiding being outside when the temperature is less that 58F and that helps a lott [sic! It is a pun.]. I still can’t sing or talk for more than 3 of 4 sentences. Basically, I’m a little better than I was when I arrived from Papua last June.
We did have a nice night on Saturday. It was just hubby and me and the girls. LD gave me GUILTY and the rest gave me nothing. The dinner was nice.
Last night we went back with a larger group. All my side of the family who is in the state showed up (just 11 of us). I toyed with changing my standard order. So, I started off with the gingerbread martini. Mistake! Never having had kahlua before I didn’t know if I’d like it. I don’t. So, I passed that on to Dad and his bride. The only change then, was the appetizer. I had the chicken quesaidia instead of the mushrooms.

Dad has been spending a lot of time atthe rehab center with step-mother. He gets lonely although he is still very busy fixing thisis and thats. Currently, he is working on a window for the screened in sun porch so he can keep plastic over the screens without drafts. But he still gets lonely. It breaks my heart to hear it in his voice.
Mr HOB said something last night that made me think many men are having the same feelings about this admin coming into power. He doesn't seem to feel he has done enough to take care of me in the past and is searching for another way to do so. Nonsence, he's been a wonderful provider/husband and I think he's worried about the future woth that wretch going tinto Washington next week. sigh
I hope you have a good flight/trip to Papua. I am so sorry I was not able to get down there to meet with you. HOB
Good morning, finally checking in today. Busy morning with walk aerobics, cleaning the oven, getting folders ready for a showcase we’re performing in and have. Must now get busy with real work.
On Inauguration Day I intend to be very busy ignoring the coverage. I believe we’ll all be suffering from severe dizziness from watching the media spin like tops for Ding Dong in the next months.
Meanwhile at some point I expect America or one of our allies or interests to get whacked by jihadi’s. I sort of feel like a very bad storm is coming and we’re all out in an open field watching, exposed and without direction or protection.
And I think often of our fine military. They’ll be top notch even when their CiC isn’t. But they deserve a HECK of a lot better. /rant
I missed it, too. But I spent most of my time here being bed-ridden. Nothing serious but enough little things to drive me batty! But I couldn’t have gone. We’ll have to get it worked out for when we get back.
In fact, an idea just occurred to me. In July of 2011, we’ll be attending a conference up at Ridge Haven outside of Brevard NC. Perhaps we could drive up and visit you either before or after the conference? We could put it in our itinerary and make sure it gets done. That will be about a month (at that time) before we head back again.

I’m in Dihwanaya in southern Iraq. Its rather safe here, as the Iraqi Army and Police provide security for the town. The US is here as backup for the Iraqi security forces. Its boring for us but great for the saftey and security of Iraq. We have won here.
