Go East, young man? Californians look for the exit (suttle illegals alert)
AP ^ | 01/12/09 | Michael R. Blood

Mike Reilly spent his lifetime chasing the California dream. This year he's going to look for it in Colorado.

With a house purchase near Denver in the works, the 38-year-old engineering contractor plans to move his family 1,200 miles away from his home state's lemon groves, sunshine and beaches. For him, years of rising taxes, dead-end schools, unchecked illegal immigration and clogged traffic have robbed the Golden State of its allure.

Is there something left of the California dream?

"If you are a Hollywood actor," Reilly says, "but not for us."

The Golden State and its huge economy — by itself, the eighth-largest in the world...

They keep touting that, but when I was in High School living in California the economy was the world's 6th largest.

Well, they mention it, but they don’t go into it on an in-depth level, like they do for other reasons, as you read the entire article. They won’t just come out and say the reality: people are leaving because the Mexican takeover is almost complete.

I read the article. What it says, although not really wanting to is that liberals, illegals and to some extent those legal immigrants living off the bounty of that state once befitting of a dream is now a nightmare of bills, taxes, unfunded liabilities and debt.

The real problem that California has is that it is entirely, absolutely unwilling to reform. It will tax its real producers until they do what this gentleman is doing - leave. What they are left with are users of others' productivity. It is a death spiral which can only be temporarily forestalled by extreme assistance from Federal Government - ZerO. In the end, the collapse will be the same as if the 'big quake' had come.

Hell, they’ve been Californicating Colorado for years now. It started back when I lived there in the 70s.

Now they have a Democrap governor, 2 assclown senators, and they went for The Zero in the presidential sweepstakes.

What was once a conservative semi-paradise is now a cesspool with pretty mountains running through it.

They’re not gonna be as financially able to influence things as in the past. They’re not gonna be getting the 6-700% realization of profit from their little houses. It just ain’t there. It’s now mainly survival and survival tends to change attitudes about largesse.

Exactly! that’s what they do in NJ too. People leave because of the property taxes yet they fail to connect high property taxes and liberalism. So many in NJ have moved to North Carolina that the state is shifting politically. They should just relocate to another liberal state...........oh I forgot, liberal states cost too much to live in.

Interesting point. Hope it turns out to be a significant effect.

Sorry I should have said some conservative CA are pretty liberal.

Our last two Respublican Presidents were from California. One was a little bit RINO but not the other.

You don't know what you are talking about. The ones who leave are the ones who CAME here and ruined our great state over the last 20 years. Most of them are from New Jersey and New York and Florida.

As for thinking that conservative Californians are liberal you are way off base. Ask Jim Robinson about his views or me or my wife, or Ronald Reagan or Bob Dornan or Duncan Hunter. It is very, very difficult for a RINO to win a contested primary in California.

(and no, Arnold won an open special election with the votes of Democrats when he first got his leg up into office.)

As a whole, Republicans in California are as conservative as they come for the most part.

Liberal Californians are like locusts. I saw first hand what they did to Nevada. They complain about California with its liberal laws, immigration problems, high taxes, and environmental nut-jobs. Then they move to another state(Oregon, Colorado, Nevada, Utah, Washington, etc.) and pass the same exact laws, policies, and legislators who ruined California and expect different results. In the end they have ruined the state they moved to and have to relocate again. Locusts I tell you.

To be sure I've met a lot of decent, hard-working, conservative Californians unfortunately they are outnumbered about five to one.

Just the opposite states like California that are controlled by wacko libs the conservatives in them are more conservative because of it not less. I am sure this is true in places like New Jersey also.

You true blue patriot conservative Californians are heroes.
Lights in a darkened, liberal infested sewer. Weep for California...better yet-— get mad and revolt with what the vermin have done to it.
