Go East, young man? Californians look for the exit (suttle illegals alert)
AP ^ | 01/12/09 | Michael R. Blood

Mike Reilly spent his lifetime chasing the California dream. This year he's going to look for it in Colorado.

With a house purchase near Denver in the works, the 38-year-old engineering contractor plans to move his family 1,200 miles away from his home state's lemon groves, sunshine and beaches. For him, years of rising taxes, dead-end schools, unchecked illegal immigration and clogged traffic have robbed the Golden State of its allure.

Is there something left of the California dream?

"If you are a Hollywood actor," Reilly says, "but not for us."

The CA ex pats are flooding in to Westernmost Texas and New Mexico -— and bringing their crappy voting patterns with them.

Stay home, locusts. You made your bed. Don’t ruin ours.

Texas? We’re full up. Besides Californians wouldn’t like the hurricanes, coral snakes, copperheads, rattle snakes, cottonmouths, alligators, humidity, lack of good sushi bars, mosquitos, lack of mountains, heat, cold - did I mention the snakes and humidity? - lack of surfing, lack of the cultural amenities that Californians are accustomed to such as fung shwei massage parlors, crystal readers, and Rodeo Drive...By the way, did I mention the humidity and the snakes?

Californians, living in Texas is about five times worse than living in Bakersfield. Did I mention the snakes and humidity?

More seriously, I hear that Buffalo, Newark, Camden, New Haven, and Gary are great places to live. Go there and be happy.

. The Golden State and its huge economy — by itself, the eighth-largest in the world — have shown resilience, weathering the aerospace bust, the dot-com crash and an energy crunch in recent years.

The problem is they've about done sucking the life out of California business. There ain't nothing left to give.

I escaped from California in 1979 and never looked back.

“They won’t just come out and say the reality: people are leaving because the Mexican takeover is almost complete.”

That’s a fact. California has surrendered to the Mexicans just as Britain has surrendered to the muzz.

“As a whole, Republicans in California are as conservative as they come for the most part.”

That’s all true. Pity they are so outnumbered.

How could I have forgotten the aggressive, venom injecting, ubiquitous, swarming fire ants? By the way, did I mention the snakes and the humidity?

For a Texan, a visit to Bakersfield is what a visit to Carmel, Yosemite, or Sonoma is for a Californian.

Californias, if you must move, avoid Texas. Gary, on the other hand, is nice this time of year.

They can move to balmy Minneapolis. -15 F tonight.

Besides, if they *do* come here, Minnesota will shift to the *right*.

Remember Al Franken?

NO cheers, unfortunately, except for the temperature :-)

FLip comments are usually wrong. Your comment is flip.

They keep trying to do the same thing here in Arizona. But here... we’ve got heat, baby, and they usually wither and leave after just one summer.

We’re still here on the beautiful Central Coast of California. Perfect weather — laid back lifestyle — great for homeschooling Christians — big cities just a couple hours away in any direction. Wouldn’t trade it for the world. We don’t let the government chaos in Sacramento to impact our daily lives. God is good, and very much alive — here in the most gorgeous place on earth...

You are absolutely right. I was born and raised in Cali, and lived their till i was 30. I moved out because of the insane taxes, and the huge influx of hispanics. I lived in the Republican hub of California, Orange County. Cali should be sorry I have left, because I have achieved much more in Florida than I ever did in Cali.

California should be an example for the Country. Excessive government growth to fund social programs is a recipe for disaster. Cali will continue to drive out bright conservative people. I hope all those rich Hollywood people get used to having to pay more taxes to cover for the lazy masses.

Illegal immigration has destroyed California and it is coming to your state, if it hasn’t already arrived.
