Damon slams Bond and isnít that keen on Bourne either!

Matt Damon always comes across as such a mild mannered chap and I’m quite surprised to read he’s taken time out to slam the Bond franchise. Speaking with the Miami Herald, he trampled the world of Bond and indicated his all round displeasure for the world in which our top agent has his roots firmly based.

"They could never make a James Bond movie like any of the Bourne films. Because Bond is an imperialist, misogynist sociopath who goes around bedding women and swilling martinis and killing people. He's repulsive."

Fair enough Matt, I actually don’t mind any of those qualities and the more of them we actually see in this sanitised politically correct world the better as far as I’m concerned. He went on to say...

This would be the same Matt Damon that compared the Governor of Alaska to a Walt Disney movie?

Dear Matt, I KNOW you wish you had relevance, but really, no one gives a rat’s right toenail WHAT you think. The adults are all worried about the economy and their homes, the boys are listening to rap and the girls are styling their hair like Hannah Montana.

Why in the world would anyone care about the literary leanings of a spoiled pansy who gets paid $10 million to play dress up for three months. Go away now. Grownups have real work to do.

Bourne wasnt a murderer in the books. He was very much a good guy. It is Hollywood that ruined the books.

Seen the movie, great movie. And if I were in that same situation as the movie’s daughter,I would want my dad to do exactly the same thing. Not Damon. The day will come when Damon and the rest of his ilk will have to come to grips with the truth about terrorists.

Of course, Damon must have read the novels and understands that Bond is a complex character, orphaned as a young boy and ultimately ends up in a world where he is expendable asset. Bonds loves very few people, because everyone he has loved, he is prone to lose. And Bond doesn’t treat Moneypenny like trash - people underestimate the symbolic nature of their relationship.

Quite judgmental for a liberal, Damon is.

More of a Jack Bauer fan myself these days. Now there's a guy who knows how to get things done.

Do either Bond or Bourne have a loophole in a torture executive order named after them?

And Jimmy Bond violated his rights to a fair trial under international law.

Daniel Craig's is a whole new Bond, though. After Munich and Defiance it's hard not to think of his Bond as one really tough Jewish guy.

What would Matt Damon know about Jason Bourne? The movies didn’t even come close to the story line of the books.

Jason Bourne in the books was a sympathetic, rather sad actually, character, who the reader could actually care for.

In the movies, I found myself pulling for the other guys to just shoot him.

I found Matt Damon’s portrayal of Jason Bourne to be about as life-like as Arnold Schwarzenneger’s “Terminator”. Just relentless action — almost mindless.

Having super powers is what made it believable. Otherwise I was questioning the casting as well, but he did OK. As to Bond, well Bond is Bond and nothing more. ;)

I will always prefer dear ole boy Sir Sean Connery, but the chemistry between Craig and Green in this scene were brilliant.
