God Is At Work
It is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Philippians 2:13
We always crave change in a new year. This is why on January 1 we start diets, exercise programs, and new hobbies. Of course, a month later were usually back to our old bad habits. Maybe thats because we crave too big a change and do not have enough power and will to make the changes.
I wonder how many Jesus-followers have made commitments to change and grow spiritually but are experiencing frustration because they dont have the will and power to carry out those steps.
Paul addresses this issue in his letter to the Philippians. As he encouraged them to work out their salvation with fear and trembling (2:12), Paul said they would not be on their own. God Himself would energize them to grow and carry out His tasks. The first area affected would be their desires. God was at work in them, giving them the desire to change and grow. He was also working to give them the power to make the actual changes (v.13).
God has not left us alone in our struggles to attain spiritual growth. He helps us want to obey Him, and then He gives us the power to do what He wants. Ask Him to help you want to do His will.
Every day more like my Savior,
Every day my will resign,
Until at last Christ reigns supremely
In this grateful heart of mine. Brandt

A Dawning
Soft the pearl and rose of coming dawn
and I pause to greet it with open heart
For each is now of me such a vital part
and I welcome the moment before its gone
A beginning of day and life renewed for me
a place, a moment so set in colored relief
Set by a Masters hand to augment my belief
illuminating the way for a soul to truly see

Very nice, thanks. I really enjoyed Amazing Grace in the Cherokee language. I'm saving that site for later to listen to more. BTW, If any of you like contemporary Native songs I have a couple of albums by Brule. They are worth the money, very good. Look them up on Amazon, you wont be sorry.

A soft, beautiful way to mark the beginning of a new month, Amy and Lori. Thank you for this warm and welcoming place for friends to gather every day.
Thank you, Rus, for your daily posts of coffee and food for our souls. I read your post asking for prayer and then you later one filled with relief after seeing the doctor. I am so glad to have found your second post. You mean an awful lot to an awful lot of people here at FR, so take care of yourself!
Polly, I am so very sorry that your sister's news was what you all dreaded, and pray for the best treatment and recovery. You know you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Amen..This is so lovely.
It is 65 here and I failed to get the patio power washed yesterday..I did use the vacuum for something other than room decor yesterday..and used the polishing cloths!
When it hits 70..I’m going to try to get all those seed hulls washed off..I usually get myself hosed down in the process.
If not it looks like Tuesday is going to be another warm day.

Thank you for the Brule recommendation. I certainly shall look it up.
My favorite Native American music is played by R. Carlos Nakai on flute. When I moved to Arizona, and was traveling accross the desert, radio on, I had to stop my car and listen to his music, it touched me so deeply. I now have several of his CDs, and find them so inspiring.
Here is one, called Winter Solstice Art:
