Man, someone driving the wrong way on a road is one of my worst nightmares and I drive that all the time from Houston to Dallas.
74 yr old just took a wrong turn...
Prayers to the 2 young girls in the hospital...
...and for the family of the elderly man...devastating to all involved.
We came through there northbound about 4pm and got stuck in the residual backup. Both the freeway and the service road was still backed up for miles. We didn’t know what had happened because the wreck had been cleared
Damn. the wreck happened at around 2.
There were two LifeFlight helicopters that took off from the scene around 2:35
now that’s the understatement o’ the century!!
ps. I’m stealin’ yer picture!
Speaking of... I know IH-45 and Madisonville well... that's where my exit is to God's Country... College Station (Aggieland).
LOL! Me too.
yet, we simply let the elders run people down, drive carelessly, accidentally step on the accelerator, etc...
A bunch of friends and I got stuck in the backup on the way back from Dallas. We were stopped so long that we made friends with the Aggies in the truck behind us, played a few games of cards, and everyone not driving had a few beers.
We saw life flight land and take off again. When we were finally able to get off the highway the backups didn’t end. All the way into Huntsville on the back roads everything was really backed up.
All in all we were stuck for three hours. We pulled up to the jam just after 2, and sat until almost 5.
Personally, I’m an advocate of driving testing for everyone, every 5 years. And every 2 years past 65. I have no IDEA how anyone could get on I45 going the wrong way. All the ramps hold multiple signs, you’d be on the wrong side of the road, there’s a yellow line on the left shoulder and a white one on the right... plus there’s large amounts of traffic coming head on at 85-90 mph.
