This is Webb revealing his true, socialist self - anyone who thought he was a "moderate", gun-loving all around guy needs to read this - and shame om all who voted him in. REMEMBER THIS when he's up for re-election!!!! There remains-and there always should remain-a frustration with how far we have to go. For me, our most important journey in the country today, is to restore basic economic fairness. To close the massive gulf that now exists between the people at the very top in this country and everyone else. At the same time their income went up, the average tax rate at the top fell to its lowest level in 18 years. This along with a lot of other policies that need to be examined, has created the largest income gap in this country since the 1920s. When I graduated from college in 1968, the average CEO made 20 times what the average worker made in the United States of America. Today, that CEO makes 400 times as much as the average work.

Sorry all for the inelegant post. Thought I’d shorten this by adding pertinent points of speech in my comments - looks terrible. Many apologies...

Jim Webb is tha kinda Huey Long ignorant southern folk revel in electing.I am a Southerner by birth, and have always noted that his soft marxism has always been an easy sell on white trash.
Its why Carter swept the South and what got Webb elected.

Webb’s a liar, a hypocrite, and has some deep seated mental issues from what I can tell.
Pity George Allen wasn’t ready for prime time, he should have mopped the floor with this kook.

Andrew Jackson, established an important principle of American-style democracy-that you measure the health of our society not at its apex, but at its base. Not with numbers, however shaky they are these days, that come out of Wall Street, but with the living conditions that exist among the people who are carrying the true load of society.
The problem is, Professor Num Nutts, that DemonRATs are not concerned with living conditions of anyone, only in buying votes. In doing so, they are paying out the dividends of those who carry the load of society and give them to those who are a LOAD ON SOCIETY. Pretty much everything else they say is a LOAD.

Pity George Allen wasnt ready for prime time, he should have mopped the floor with this kook. Allen was ready for prime time and will be back.
Granted, he stuck his foot in his mouth. But the main problem was Dick Wadhams not understanding Allen OR Virginia. The campaign was run differently from any previous Allen campaign and if you know the players, you know the difference.
What happened to Allen in the end was that he was subjected to a partisan (likely Hillary-backed) witch hunt. Still he came very close to pulling it out on a night where Republicans lost their drawers nationwide.
Allen will be back. Count on it.

I disagree with your take on what got him elected. George Allen had a Howard Dean moment, and the racists ran wild with it. Webb won by only 9300 votes, and we can get rid of him with a decent candidate in 2012.
Webb's “the rules don't apply to me” gun fracas right after he got elected really didn't sit well with a lot of us and him polishing the floor for zer0 isn't making it any better.
On another note, I have to give appreciation to the demodummies for electing our doofus governor for their chairperson. Thank you!! That guy (Tim Kaine) has frightening eyebrows, and just looks evil to me.

Well put - and I add, that they seem to ensure their own economic wellbeing first and foremost - Webb a hot shot author, etc - then proceed to screw with the rest of society’s ability to make a buck - all for meeeee, none for theeeee...
To: graywaiter
Interestingly, I got the text of his speech from a web site of a lib latina who loved it lots and said in her text wasn’t it great Webb was in instead of that RACIST Geo Allen. Incredible!...

Yeah, like “they” are the authority on who is a racist. All they had to do was point a finger at Allen and scream racist, and it worked. But a win by 9300 does not a mandate make. Webb is a tool/fool. Unfortunately, there are many in this state that are willing to use one to continue robbing those of us who do contribute, blind.

What a waste of time e-mailing Webb’s office. He’s blaming CEOs too.

Ironically the fools in NoVA voted him in (and as with most other dems like *shudder* Moran) are the ones making decent salaries - oh, yeah, but they are GOVT workers so keep the GOVT expanding so they keep their big pay checks - I get it, I get it...
To: matginzac
When I graduated from college in 1968, the average CEO made 20 times what the average worker made in the United States of America. Today, that CEO makes 400 times as much as the average work. First of all, using averages can be exceedingly deceptive. For instance, if I make 100K/yr and my neighbor makes 0, our average annual income is 50K. Using this method, one could conclude that my neighbor makes 10K above the national average.
Second, if we're going to attack people because of high salaries, let's include the NBA, NFL, MLB, rap stars, Hollyweirdo's, etc. These people make enormous amounts of money and would barely even be missed if they all packed up and went to Mars.
