fortunately his mother comes from strong stock, and they don’t have elections in the monarchy. Prince Charles will remain so, and King William will do wonders in a few more years.....

the degenerating recessive genes of the British Monarchy are leading the way towards the demise of what once was an Empire
upon which the sun never set. Now effeminate blathering liberal nutcases with vast sums of money , they do not mind that the same dear little colonial ‘asian’ immigrants that they threw the door open for will probably one day end up dragging their dismembered corpses through the streets of Windsor . The Brit Army should seize power now .

My God, but he is a TWIT. A sanctimonious, bumbling, pretentious TWIT. I hope his mother outlives him. Can you imagine that fogbound dolt on the throne? On second thought, with the way England is going these days, maybe it would be best for him to be there to make the shame complete.

Charles and Camilla had a romance before Diana came into the picture but he wasn’t ready to commit and Camilla went on to marry someone else. But they must have continued to lust for each other.

That ‘pinky ring’ is the Signet of the Prince of Wales. It is worn as symbol of his commitment to the Principality of Wales as their Prince and to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland as Heir Apparent to the throne.

(Declaring my bias - I am a friend of the Prince of Wales, having gone to school with him - and he’s a man worthy of far more respect that many people seem to imagine. The way he is portrayed in the media is more a caricature, than accurate. He is a man utterly dedicated to the welfare of his country and who has devoted his life to its service. Yes, he has some odd ideas at time - but imagine what it’s like to be constitutionally prevented from speaking your own mind on so many issues that the only ones you wind up being allowed to speak on are fringe ones).

Unless Her Majesty predeceases the Prince of Wales, he will become King - if for no other reason than to extend as long as possible the chance that his eldest son has for something approaching a normal life.

His Royal Highness wishes to be King for all his people - both in the United Kingdom, and throughout the Commonwealth (remember, as King, he will be Head of the Commonwealth). A large number of these people are Moslem.

I do not believe the Prince has any special interest in Islam as compared to other faiths - he's a member of the Church of England and he takes that faith more seriously than any other, though I don't believe he's particularly devout, but beyond that he simply seeks to treat all faiths with respect. Being respectful towards Judaism, or Hinduism, or Buddhism, is completely non-controversial and so his gestures in those directions don't get publicised. Being respectful towards Islam, however - well that creates some controversy and that sells newspapers and ad space on TV - so that gets stressed by the media when it happens.

The Prince has no time for terrorism in any of its forms - but I'd point out to you that his own Godfather was murdered by terrorists who hid behind Catholicism as the basis for their crimes. He makes a distinction between the actions of fanatics and those who merely seek to follow their own faith in peace.

I don’t understand the negative feelings expressed here on FR toward Charles and Camilla. Perhaps it is class envy. Perhaps some found Diana to be attractive and blame Camilla for the breakup. Perhaps it’s a Friday night, glass of wine phenomenon.

Diana threw herself from a tree onto her sister’s ex-boyfriend. She couldn’t graduate high school, so parlayed her long legs, blond hair, youth and virginity into royalty. She was no human sacrifice.

She left 17 million pounds to each of her sons, 50,000 pounds to her butler and not a shilling to Pediatric Aids research, that for which she was soliciting all your hard-earned funds her whole blessed life. She sat on a bench in front of the Taj Mahal, the ‘monument to love’ (read the back story on that one) and sighed, “Where there is no love, I can give love.” Well, apparently, there was no love in the castle in Spain because she gave it there, too. Stop glorifying her, for crying out loud. She had the most gorgeous legs and that was it.

Maybe if Charles had had his “royal posterior’ whipped when he pinched and drank that Cherry Brandy at age 12, he may have straighten up...

And been a half decent chap...

The Duke wanted to do it, but the Queen said “not on that majestic bum”

And the rest is history...

Your Etonian school chum mentality is not understood here in the states...

You've spent more time researching reasons to dislike her than I have spent caring what happened to her. In my entire life I've probably spent about 25 minutes, and in those 25 minutes what tends to pass through my mind is: She seems like she was a nice girl who married a man that didn't love her, and the rest of her life, riches or no, seems kind of tragic.

I will continue to think her life was kind of a sad one and it's a pity it didn't go better. You go ahead and feel however you want about her.

He couldnt marry Camilla because...

1. She was married to someone else...

2. Then she was divorced and as future king he couldnt be married to a divorcee. Church of England rules.

Yes, he has married her now but not without a row...

Diana come into that mess apparantly not knowing about Camilla...

Charles does not appear to have a romantic bone in his body...

He is not his Great-Uncle Edward...

It’d be nice if people could base their opinions on something other than misreported newspaper articles. Unfortunately for most people that’s all there is. The media chooses to present a caricature of the Prince that has only a limited link to reality.

First of all, HRH did not ‘pinch’ any cherry brandy. He ordered it in a pub.

Secondly, he was also not 12 at the time, but 14.

Thirdly, he was caned for doing so and it was by no means the only time he was caned. He was caned at school by schoolmasters and at home by his father.

The Prince is a ‘decent chap.’ He served his country in the military for five years, and has served it in other ways his entire life, virtually always putting his own desires behind the needs of his country and his people and living a life of duty towards them. Yes, he’s a little odd in some ways, though not as odd as some people seem to think. He’s limited in the issues he’s allowed to talk about because of his current and future consitutional roles which means a lot of the time, he can only talk about fairly fringe issues where his views would not bring him into conflict with Her Majesty’s government.
