The state chit-chat new messages just started showing up again on my pings page... and I can't figure out how to get rid of it/them.
There's a link that says it's removing me from these notifications... but it doesn't.... they're still there!
in before the “are you logged in” posts start...
I was seeing messages from the Virginia “chat” which were dated October and November, 2008, earlier today.
I just came back on a few minuntes ago and the messages are no longer showing.
That happened to me this week too - strange - out of nowhere
Emigrate.
I used to have that problem when I lived in Florida. I moved to Missouri, and the problem cleared right up! So you should probably move.
:)
go to
Account
Manage Blocks
Locale Message — Set to Disable
Hit Modify
Resume normal mode
I turned that block off by going into “Account”, then clicking on “manage blocks”, then next to “locale message” I changed the drop down menu to “disabled”. That made the message block go away.
LOL RabidBartender... I think I’ll try Norms idea first. :~)
I think that worked - thank you! :~)
My Jersey messages are from October, too. How come?
To Missouri! ;^)
I have no idea. Mine are gone now, though.
If he was NOT logged in he would not see them. So not being logged in works this time.
Thanks for making this thread. I was having the same thing happen, but didn’t know where to ask. They just started showing up.
Thank you! It was driving me nuts too.
The state announcements don’t bother me, but I would like to limit or eliminate the text of the post when I read the “latest posts” page. Some posts are about a mile long, requiring quite a bit of scrolling.
That’s an easy one. On the blue bar on the lastest posts page change it from “text” to “headers.”
LOL - the solution is right in front of me. No wonder I couldn't see it.
Thanks!!
Oh good. I love it when things work like they’re supposed too. :)
So, none of you are interested in local participation?
Nothing *wrong* with local participation, but it’s mostly just chit-chat on our state board (not that there’s anything wrong with that) and it seems less like local news and more like I’m having someone else’s conversation appear randomly on my screen.

Go here:

And move your “Locale Message” block to one of your sidebars. I put mine at the top left where it’s unobtrusive, yet I can keep an eye on it.
AH - that’s an interesting idea too... thank you!
Our board has been fairly inactive. We have only met as a group probably four times. But, I’m always interested in what is posted because it usually has something to do with local politics....something we might be able to influence.
Recently, because of the national events, we have started discussing local small group meetings first and proceed from there.
Any discussion on your board for starting some get togethers to address national issues?
They might discuss that sometimes, but it’s mostly “what’s up, what did you do over the weekend?” kind of stuff ;~)
...Not that there’s anything wrong with that. ;~)
