Between military consumption & this potential ban on imports it’ll be near impossible to obtain .308 win.

Quickie quiz: which amendment comes after the First Amendment?

For an administration that does not shrink from Censoring political speech protected by the First Amendment, it cannot be much of a step to interfere with Second Amendment rights.

You can’t find .30 right now for that matter.

I have 300 round of .308, mostly federal. I sold my .308 AR10 a few months back.

A significant fraction of the .308/7.62x51 and .223/5.56x45 ammo I see available is imported. Virtually all of the 7.62x39 and7.62x54R is imported.

About half the 9x19 and .45 ACP that I see available is imported.

Note to all:

Brass is reusable.

Further note: your gun is useless without cartridges. An attack on ammunition imports is directly and intentionally an attack on your right to keep and bear arms.

The Obamaramous should remember that the American Revolution started over the government trying to seize weapons.

But I guess that is what his “Civilian Defense Force” is all about.

I picked up a AR-15 just yesterday, and the gun shop just finished selling off 18,000 rounds of 30-06 in ‘strips’.

I’ve seen the ad in cheaperthandirtdotcom for the .30 with strippers a ‘silencer’ cardboard...Cabela’s is now offering .30 in 300 round ‘ammo boxes’ according to the email I got from them yesterday as well. $178 per box of 300 rounds.

So...everyone should be howling to their elected officials, from the House to the Senate, all the way to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Let them know that this will NOT be acceptable to law abiding US Citizens, and that it should be dropped, immediately.

If they are just floating a trial balloon, we’ll shoot it down. IF they are wishing to proceed, they’ll likely have to rethink it.

It’s time to take back the country.

I don’t think anyone here is surprised that they will try to sneak in gun/ammo/parts bans. If they want the fight, then bring it.

So they want to ban the 3 main rifle rounds (.308/7.62x51, .223/5.56, and 7.62x39) along with the 3 main pistol rounds (9mm, .40, .45) from being imported.

Gee how convenient...those rounds must encompass 95% of the guns out there.

Just another way to make everyday life and the exercise of your rights as inexpensive and difficult as possible if you’re not one of the Anointed Ones.

“So they want to ban the 3 main rifle rounds along with the 3 main pistol rounds from being imported”

NEXT STEP-Subject gun and ammo manufacturers to UNLIMITED CIVIL LIABILITY, and heavy taxation, making it impossible to produce weapons and ammunition, without actually “Banning” guns.

Reference H.R. 45, Holt Weapons Licsensing/Confiscation Act for details.

I’m a smart guy usually, can anybody tell me why Hill would want to stop exporting these (or any) calibers of ammo to Canada????????

The political administrations in Washington have been very innovative and inventive in circumventing the public forum in issuing their ukases. Over the years it has been perfected to a science.

I doubt you'll find a better deal out there right now, if you can find the stuff at all.

To put a finer point on it, these are the calibers used in the firearms that they don't want us to have.

Those are also the calibers that make up the vast majority of the import business. Killing those specific products will put importers out of business.

The source of all of this...Shooting Wire...
No Valentine Coming From the North
Despite the fact that tomorrow's supposed to be the day to show love and affection, it looks like Canadian firearms enthusiasts aren't much in love with parts of the government right now.
The reason? A report making the rounds in Canada that says officials have it on "good authority" that our State Department may be on the verge of cutting off all imports of certain calibers of ammunition.

Followup...Politics and Pistols
Last Friday, we reported that Canadian authorities had sent word of a United States State Department proposal that would ban several ammo calibers sale by United States companies to Canada. It's safe to say that the story kicked off quite a storm on both sides of the border.
In Canada, calls to their Parliament protested the idea that whole classes of ammo could, effectively, be stopped at the border. Here in the US, it taught me to be a good bit more exact with the concepts of import and export. The intent of the story was simple - to let our readers know the United States Department of State was considering a ban on the export of US ammo in several calibers to Canada.

Yep. Just like the recently-reported letter urging Obama to clamp down on imported firearms, this is entirely a BATFE policy issue. All the President needs to do is make his wishes known to the agency administrator.

There are plenty of things they can do to f--- with us which don't even require an executive order, let alone new legislation.

Under current market conditions, that is a contradiction in terms.

If few other source have any, why would someone who does sell it cheaply?

About three months before the election I began to see the handwriting on the wall and began buying ammo at Academy Sporting good. They had exclusive rights to Monarch ammo that was made in Russia and Croatia. I know some of you dislike Monarch ammo because it may be dirtier than Winchester or Remington but they were a lot cheaper and you could buy .223 for $5.69 per box 7.62 X 39 for $4.89 per box, .308 for $8.59, and the hand gun ammo was cheap also.

I have never had any trouble with any of the Monarch. But right after the election and to this day Academy can not get Monarch ammo on the shelves. So I don't know if Academy knows some thing or not. This ban may be already be taking effect.

I didn't say cheap, I said reasonable. I did find 1000 rounds for $252, which seems reasonable.

People are reasonable because they don't want to piss off their customer base by making them feel gouged.

I stand corrected. Most people mean "cheap" when they say "reasonable".

Reasonable is what they are willing to sell it for, and the customer is willing to pay for it.

It's called freedom.

I think people tend to forget that the supplier is in the same boat with us, not knowing if he can ever replace his inventory. Not knowing if The Messiah and his attack dog AG Holder, who unlike his own mentor Jackboot Janet, is now in charge of enforcing federal firearms laws, will ban import of his product, tax the snot out of it, or ban some of it entirely.

It is a way to attack the industry by taking away one major market for US ammo manufacturers. The firearms and ammo industry is one of the few industries that have not come to the government for a bailout. It is a billion dollar industry. I fully expect the administration to go after it at some point in the next four years.
