I will have had Morgellons for 3 years this May, it’s all I can do to hold my job down to support my wife and children, it is sheer hell, there are things worse than death, for some reason, and you’d have to have this, there is a since of horror that comes with this, it’s far more than just being sick, being sick I can handle, but what Morgellons does is “unreal”.
She WOULD get morgellons!

There are some people who, for whatever reason, I can look past their political beliefs and appreciate their talents, too. But then there are some who are so obnoxious about it that they make it impossible to look past.

Loved her music in the past. Haven’t heard any recently. Although I’m sure I do not agree with her politics she has always been one of my favorites from the 70’s.
Whatever, I have it too, it’s far more widespread than you know, trust me, and pray that you and your family aren’t visited by it, because it is worse than anything you could possibly dream up, and I’m not joking, I have known some to commit suicide over this, others to abandone homes losing everything sure the home was infected with parasites, for once, just stop and think and stop making jokes. Morgellons is horryfying. My pastor made me promise I wouldn’t take my own life, there was a point that I was very tempted. I have experienced things I coulnd’t even describe on this board for fear of redicule, so go ahead, get all your jokes in and have a good time, I’m sure all of the families with children with this who are going through sheer hell and being mocked by the doctors sworn to help them will find comfort in your humor.
The thing is, you should be very worried, because they number of new families reporting in for the first time on the many forums seeking help and comfort I am involved in is astounding. Most would never admit what they have publically. Good for Joni, she has helped these families by merely admitting the truth.
Actually, Sting, a latter-day singer-songwriter, I think rightly, gives that distinction to John Dowland, a contemporary of Shakespeare and Elizabeth I.
Still she was (and is) an exemplar of the type, and I’ll second everyone on the thread who likes her in spite of her politics.

Had that happen when I was young being called delusional....ended up the illness was a severe case of Graves disease.
The treatment keeps one alive but not fun to deal with living on sythetic thyroid meds and no actual gland.
I knew another woman who was actually commmitted to a mental institution untill someone got clued in that she had Graves.

I would like to say thank you to guys, this is the first time I have posted anything about Morgellons and not been totally rediculed, and thank you for those that sent me private emails.
I am very sick, have 3 children, oldest 11, I am trying to hang on long enough to see them through early adulthood, but in 3 years of fighting this my health is pretty bad, Morgellons is life shortening, I am struggling like hell to provide for my family, to even show up to work each day, but so far I am, I am proving hard to kill so far. My goal is to try to live 10 more years, but I know in reality unless the CDC study that is going on finds something there is no way I will live more than a few more years. I just hope they are really looking seriously in this study.

My mother has Graves disease.
For her it causes a blistering and oozing rash. It is *very* painful and debilitating. Thankfully, they now have a diagnosis and when she has outbreaks the treatment seems effective. It takes more than a week to clear up.

While there may be some case where politics trumps all beyond any redemption (Mussolini made the trains run on time), imho Joni Mitchell's politics calls to mind the case of a Communist who was a marine on Guadalcanal. I won't go into the details, but I've been going to and from the doctor for years for different things and it turns out it's my thyroid, too.

I’m sorry for your sufferings. I, too, have two auto-immune conditions and a few years back I decided to put my trust in holistic type healing. Have you tried acupuncture (through someone who was brought up in Eastern medicine)? My doc is a chiropractor as well, and while I still have the conditions (although their punch has lessened), it is the stress with dealing with poor health that has been helped immensely. It took me two years to see an acupuncturist after it was recommended to me, and I’m sure sorry I waited so long. Maybe this type of medicine would help you too! Never give up. Keep looking for answers.
